Is it Possible to Exclude Sale Items from Category-Based Coupons?

I have setup a coupon. The coupon is a % based discount on certain catagories. How do I remove items which are already on sale in the same cataogies? Otherwise the discount is applied to the already discounted sale price which I do not want. Thank you

Hi @sarahbertochi 👋 thanks for posting.

If you have used the 'Category' option, coupons are applied based on the items within your preset categories, so if you want to exclude specific items, like those already on sale, you'll need to remove them from the category the coupon is linked to.

The discount will continue to apply to everything within the selected category unless it's removed from there.

A workaround could be to use the 'Specific Item' option rather than 'Category' - this way you can include items from categories on an individual basis.

Thank you for the suggestions.

If I remove the already discounted Sale items from the category then the Sale items will no longer appear/be visible online and folks will not be able to view on my website. So although your suggestion works, it creates another problem somewhere else.

I have not tried the specific item discount, because of how it is named I assumed you could only add one individual (hence specific) item, not multiple items. I will see if that works.

I did try the "Specific Item" option and although you can add more than one "specific item" in order to have a site wide % based discount I would need to add every single item individually...not a very practical solution. Ideally it would be better if there is a future update to add a Category yet eliminate items which are already on sale for the discount is not applied to those products.
