A customer can redeem a reward with square online even if the item is not in the cart. It will just discount the cart the amount of the reward. Then when customer shows up they will not only be upset they didn’t receive their reward item, they will also get there other items at a discount. Example today: guest orders chicken wrap and uses free sundae reward pays $4.50 for wrap instead of $9.00 price does not get sundae. Makes sundae. Whole transaction we make zero dollars for.
