Create Discount Codes that mirror how they were in Square Online

I was told to create a feature request for this, however I do feel like this is more of a bug than a feature request as the discount behavior I'm "requesting" has been the norm in Square Online couponing.

For years and years (four) we have used coupon code to take a discount of the customers entire purchase. We have created the discount on eligible categories and selected ALL categories except one (events/classes).

For the purpose of our website and business, our events/classes are listed as products/items and not through appointments (we just don't love the integration at this time).

Recently, we've noticed that customers have been placing orders using the discount codes that should give them 15% off their entire order only to see that they're receiving 15% off the highest priced item.

Of course, because we advertise the discount as off the entire order, we then need to refund them the rest of the discount, which we have been doing which led us to try and figure out what changed.

We know that coupons will be moving to Square Marketing in august.... but it seems that they are already taking precedence over the online coupons.

When I reached out in community about this- I was told this behavior was "expected".

I'm confused as to why we wouldn't just mirror the coupons as they have always worked especially since coupons were just supposed to be "moved" not "changed" as it was explained to me.

My issue is we have easily $2,,000 worth of marketing materials that state "take 15% off your entire purchase" which not are useless.

We send between 50-100 of these postcards out with our orders daily.

Please fix ASAP.

While I get where Dina is coming from, and can agree with that, as a small artist my issue is more with being unable to edit things.

I make a lot of custom hand made items and do so live on social media. It's not uncommon for artists like myself to let live goals, that if met, activate discounts. With the new system, and not being able to edit or turn the coupons on and off as needed, and especially since the discount only works on a single item instead of a whole order, this completely tosses a wrench in being able to offer discounts to our followers during live events where we are making our products on demand.

I've already had several people in my community tell me they are switching platforms if this doesn't get fixed soon.

@BradenSQ Can you give us any better sense of when this ridiculous situation will be fixed? I am encouraged by your comment that, "We’re exploring adding an option for coupons to apply to all items, and hope to be able to add it in the near future," but does that mean a matter of weeks? Months? Years? It is seriously embarrassing to have to explain to customers that we can't offer a discount that applies to more than one item any more. It seriously does not makes sense to them (or to any rational person) that sales software would not have this VERY BASIC function.

If this is not at the top of Square's priority list, please move it there!

I just ran into this issue as well, and thankfully I tested it before sharing the coupon code with anyone.

When it didn't work the way it should, I had to delete the coupon and start over instead of being able to edit it.

I lost hundreds and now stand to lose thousands due to this coupon fiasco. My Club members had coupon codes they applied to save a certain % - it was a perk they would use often. These last several months I've received zero coupon sales - and I look like a small messed up business too! The holidays are the busiest time for me, my industry is suffering and now my sales portal has crippled me. I'm a business owner in tears and the Square Coupon / Store designers have cost me thousands and lost repeat customers are so hard to get back. Next year, it looks like next year I"m going to have to leave this company and it just kills me. They were So Good for so long.
