How can we add an "item" to a cart that awards bonus Loyalty points?

Hi there:

New Loyalty program users here.  Some questions:

• We'd love to be able to thank customers for bringing their own reusable bag by awarding loyalty points.  Can this be done with a zero cost item that we add to the cart at checkout?
• Related but not the same: is it possible to award loyalty points automatically as a result of paying a Recurring Invoice? 

We tried setting up a "promotion" in Loyalty for both of these and it seems that it doesn't work as we'd hope.  Zero dollars is less than the $5 threshhold but of course we just want to give out free goodies as a thank you for various specific things that are not directly related to a single purchase.  Ideas?

Hey there @WolfDenDave.  At this time, the ONLY way to add “bonus” points to a loyalty account is to do it manually from your online dashboard.  Locate the customer’s record in your directory, scroll down to the loyalty section, click Manage then Adjust Status.  There you can add or remove points from a customer’s account.
