I live in Northern Ireland which my Square account was registered in UK. I am going to Galway in Ireland to take part in the Galway Potters Market my question is can I use my current Square card reader for transactions in Ireland?
Thanks in advance.

Hi @annadonovan176, thanks for your post!
When accepting card payments with the Square reader , you need to be located within the country where you activated your Square account. In this case, as you've created a UK Square account, you can only accept card transactions with the reader while in the UK.
In order to accept payment in the Republic of Ireland, you'd need to have an Irish Square account and use a different reader to take payments while in the country as well.

Hey @tranguyen!
Does this not defeat the object of the phrase 'Accept Payments Anywhere' I thought that the reader could take payments anywhere anytime? Just thought I'd reply to get the precise details to help me to support others, as square can accept cards all over the world, can you only accept British cards in person with a UK account? If so how would this affect tourists? I understand that Irish customers would pay in euro but I've accepted orders online from AUS with no effective exchange rates online, I would've thought you could accept payments anywhere from anyone, but the end currency would just end out as the same as the base of the companies account is located?

Hey @MJD, thanks for following up on this and apology for the confusion!
To clarify, you can accept internationally issued cards with Square; the payments would just be processed in British Pounds (if you have a UK Square account) or the currency of your Square account.
However, in order to accept card payments with the Square reader - whether it's a British card or international card - you must be located within the country where you activated your Square account. At this time, any card transactions attempted while travelling internationally can't be processed with the reader.

Hi There,
I have an Irish Square Account and I want to buy a Square Card Reader 2nd Generation. Am I able to buy it in Currys in Ireland and use it? Cause on Google it’s saying that it’s not supported for use in Republic of Ireland?
