HI @ebnoll
To begin with your question, you will want to make sure that you have tarot reading setup as either an item or service or in your Square library .( If you don't have that setup yet, and need help just let us know!)
I will link this article as a reference for you as well.
You will want to navigate to Invoices from your Square Dashboard. Once in the Invoice overview section, select Invoice again. Then click Create Invoice > Single.
Choose your invoice Template and select Next.
Fill out your customer details, Title, Service Date, Payment options and Item or services.
Once that is all set, simply click send in the top right corner.
As far as taxes go in California for you, you may want to reach out to your accountant. I see some services in California are not subject to sales tax, so reaching out to a CPA or similar would be your best bet to avoid any potential penalties.

@ebnoll I would be careful in using Square with Tarrot cards and other metaphysical and supernatural things as Square has a complicated and vague interpretation of "Occult materials" which they have banned the use of is Square sales. Many say they have no problem, then I will see a post once in a while that says they had their account frozen.
here is a complicated thread going back and forth on what the definition is. Depending on how you interpret Christian prayer candles or a crucifix could be depending on what you say their attributes are.

here are Square's terms of service. In section 3.
