I just joined Square. I sent myself a test invoice, but did not complete it right away. I have several emails saying I have an invoice waiting. When I click on Pay Invoice, I am taken to an invoice with a dummy credit card no. What am I supposed to put in for the rest of the information? As in CVV, expiration date? Is this supposed to simulate a transaction? Because if so I need to complete the form. Thanks.

You can mark the invoice as paid and tell it the method was "cash" or "other". In all reality, it is going through the steps of testing because you are really going through the steps of a real invoice. After you mark it as paid, you can archive it. That gets it out of the way...

It doesn't really let you test an invoice. It also will not let you delete the one you set up for testing purposes. The good news is that they work just as they should.

thank you. Hmmm, not like Shopify, where you can go from start to finish sending, paying and getting receipt for a test invoice. And you can't even delete it? I hope I don't keep getting emails I have an unpaid invoice!
Thanks,
Barton

Thanks. I actually was able to cancel the invoice, so it's gone. Another question: I am seeing conflicting information no whether the free reader that Square sends upon signing up can accept chip credit cards. Do you know? Does the reader accept both chip and swipe or only swipe and you need to buy a separate reader if you want someone to pay you with a chip? Thanks.

Hey @bartonlewis!
Stepping in here to answer your second question.
The free reader can swipe chipped cards but it's safest to use one of chip card readers.
If a customer disputes a charge and you swiped a chipped card- it's an automatic loss due to EMV liability with the banks.

Thank you for the clarification. I'll go to my local electronics store and purchase a chip reader.
