Square Register Support of 58mm Sticky Labels

Square Register Support of 58mm Sticky Labels

Please update Square Register to allow cafes and coffee shops to use 58mm sticky label paper rolls on the Star TSP654IISK Sticky Label Printer

The Square iOS app on Apple phones/tablets allows us to change the paper size from 80mm to 58mm.  However, Square Register has no such feature which seems very odd considering it is (or at least appears to be) your flagship product.

80mm size sticky labels are too large to fit on standard-sized cups (8, 10, 12, and 16oz) and barely fit on 20oz.  58mm paper scales the font just right and the labels are able to fit on all sizes of cups very nicely

I've already done things like remove the margin at the top of the ticket and reduce name length to the best of my ability - but I also shouldn't have to "hack" my way around a product (and a software) that advertises its ability to accommodate 58mm paper.  The issue of tickets being too large is exacerbated by the additional information printed on the ticket when it's an online order (or worse - an online order for delivery and it has all the DoorDash pickup time info on it) - I can't even wrap the ticket around the cup sideways as it starts to overlap on some of the smaller sized cups

If the option to select between 80mm and 58mm sticky paper is ALREADY an option for the iOS square app, I'm just confused why it isn't an option on your other hardware like Square Register.  Is there a way to get this option rolled out to Square Registers?

Thank you!

Still no solution to this? I have tried everything to make the smaller label sizes work with my square register. I have a coffee shop and the 80mm labels are way too big. The smaller labels work on my iPad. Why not on the $800 device I bought from you. I wouldn't have bought the register and printer if I would have known it only printed the large size.

You guys! It's finally here!! And it works beautifully. This is 40mm Maxstick paper. Paper settings are now live on the Square Register.

I had to double check the date to make sure it’s not April fools.

What printer do you have for the 40mm paper?

@jasonhuangml Holy crap!!! Finallyyyyy!!!! I love the 40mm paper size. We originally were planning on using the 58mm, but I love how small the 40mm is and it still looks easily legible

Thanks for sharing Jason!  We'll be swapping our ticket paper over this week and implementing - our staff is going to be so stoked!

@beanandbearcafe we use the Star TSP654IISK Sticky Label Printer. I feel like there are some mixed messages about this printer though. I saw on a different POS site that Star has discontinued these, but Square's hardware store claims they have plenty of new ones in stock. I also know the new Star MC-Label3 is their newest linerless printer, so I imagine there will be support for that on Square soon(ish?). But yes, this is great and our whole team is stoked and loving the small labels. Fits our aesthetic so much better.

The only complaint I still have is the top margin. It's still too big, even on compact setting. The font is pretty small, but it'll be fine. The printer will need to be maintained/cleaned more often since the printable area is so small. But otherwise, finally!

The 58mm option has been great!

One bug I noticed that sometimes the register starts printing out 80mm on the 58mm paper which starts to get cut off. Usually to fix this I have to go back into settings and swap it to 80mm and then swap back to 58mm. Anyone else encountering this?

I'm not seeing 40mm support on our Square Register for Restaurants with the TSP143 IV (TSP100SK), any idea what's wrong with our config? https://www.sellercommunity.com/t5/Square-for-Restaurants/40mm-Sticky-Labels-on-Star-TSP100SK-w-Squa...

I bought the printer from the official Square Store where it says it supports Square Register and 40mm paper.

Checking in to see if anyone has a solution to the 58mm paper being cut off?

I am trying to order a new paper guide from Star, thinking this may solve my problem, but am trying to be proactive about troubleshooting this on the Square end...
