Square Register Support of 58mm Sticky Labels

Square Register Support of 58mm Sticky Labels

Please update Square Register to allow cafes and coffee shops to use 58mm sticky label paper rolls on the Star TSP654IISK Sticky Label Printer

The Square iOS app on Apple phones/tablets allows us to change the paper size from 80mm to 58mm.  However, Square Register has no such feature which seems very odd considering it is (or at least appears to be) your flagship product.

80mm size sticky labels are too large to fit on standard-sized cups (8, 10, 12, and 16oz) and barely fit on 20oz.  58mm paper scales the font just right and the labels are able to fit on all sizes of cups very nicely

I've already done things like remove the margin at the top of the ticket and reduce name length to the best of my ability - but I also shouldn't have to "hack" my way around a product (and a software) that advertises its ability to accommodate 58mm paper.  The issue of tickets being too large is exacerbated by the additional information printed on the ticket when it's an online order (or worse - an online order for delivery and it has all the DoorDash pickup time info on it) - I can't even wrap the ticket around the cup sideways as it starts to overlap on some of the smaller sized cups

If the option to select between 80mm and 58mm sticky paper is ALREADY an option for the iOS square app, I'm just confused why it isn't an option on your other hardware like Square Register.  Is there a way to get this option rolled out to Square Registers?

Thank you!

Still no solution to this? I have tried everything to make the smaller label sizes work with my square register. I have a coffee shop and the 80mm labels are way too big. The smaller labels work on my iPad. Why not on the $800 device I bought from you. I wouldn't have bought the register and printer if I would have known it only printed the large size.

@SteveJ This option has been available on iOS devices for quite some time, just not on square register high is strange considering it’s their own system. Are you saying that even on the iPad, it doesn’t format the tickets and the text runs off of the 58mm labels?

@AnotherCafe correct.  Is there a setting that can be adjusted that you know of?

I'm using POS with an ipad and just bought the TSP654IISK and purchased 58mm sticky paper for it.  When I first set it up, it printed fine, then after power cycling it, it started printing half the label (like it was offset).  I figured out that if I go to settings, change the paper size to 40mm and print a test label, then go back to settings and set it to 58mm, it works.  Seems like every time I power cycle it, I have to go change the settings, but we used it yesterday and after changing the settings it printed all day (80 orders) without a problem.  We're a coffee shop printing drink labels.

Writing to express my support for this update.  Honestly absurd that it's not already available, as others have stated.  We are opening a new coffee shop currently and I just discovered that this feature is not available, despite me purchasing all of the supplies (including paper) from Square directly.

I have already given up on Square ever providing 58mm sticky label support for Square Register. Its been over 2 years.  Just don't believe that either they don't have developers anymore that can do it or they don't consider it important.  I used to develop small applications my self on a few different platforms and it is my humble opinion it would not be that difficult since the Star printer supports 58mm. Other POS systems support small sticky labels for cups, etc.  They could even update the Register android software to support the epson sticky label printer that prints smaller cup order labels.

@CofCo any update as to whether or not they ended up rolling out a beta test of this feature? Just curious if you've heard anything, tested out the beta, or followed up to see if they had any updates on this?

They never rolled it out for us.  They said it would be coming but then again I feel like that has been a common theme.  Tell people it is coming and then never roll it out.

Any update on this?

We are a boba shop that's currently utilizing Fresh KDS for our sticky label needs. We've been waiting for Square to fix their label sizes before switching over. Why is this not fixed yet? -_-

Am I naive to think that it mighty get done now that Jack Dorsey is back as CEO? LOL
