Square Register Support of 58mm Sticky Labels

Square Register Support of 58mm Sticky Labels

Please update Square Register to allow cafes and coffee shops to use 58mm sticky label paper rolls on the Star TSP654IISK Sticky Label Printer

The Square iOS app on Apple phones/tablets allows us to change the paper size from 80mm to 58mm.  However, Square Register has no such feature which seems very odd considering it is (or at least appears to be) your flagship product.

80mm size sticky labels are too large to fit on standard-sized cups (8, 10, 12, and 16oz) and barely fit on 20oz.  58mm paper scales the font just right and the labels are able to fit on all sizes of cups very nicely

I've already done things like remove the margin at the top of the ticket and reduce name length to the best of my ability - but I also shouldn't have to "hack" my way around a product (and a software) that advertises its ability to accommodate 58mm paper.  The issue of tickets being too large is exacerbated by the additional information printed on the ticket when it's an online order (or worse - an online order for delivery and it has all the DoorDash pickup time info on it) - I can't even wrap the ticket around the cup sideways as it starts to overlap on some of the smaller sized cups

If the option to select between 80mm and 58mm sticky paper is ALREADY an option for the iOS square app, I'm just confused why it isn't an option on your other hardware like Square Register.  Is there a way to get this option rolled out to Square Registers?

Thank you!

Still no solution to this? I have tried everything to make the smaller label sizes work with my square register. I have a coffee shop and the 80mm labels are way too big. The smaller labels work on my iPad. Why not on the $800 device I bought from you. I wouldn't have bought the register and printer if I would have known it only printed the large size.

@sugarshakercafe @kcsmith2335 @ttknswirly @jcgjupiter keep checking in and bumping every so often!

They've clearly reviewed it, but provided no comment about the likelihood of the update and if/when it will ever happen.

@BernadetteA - any insights or updates you can offer us now that this request has been "Reviewed"?? Is there any action being taken or discussion around this feature update?  Or is it dead in the water right now? On a related note, I'm honestly just curious why the scaling function was implemented for the app but not for the square register right off the bat.  Any insights into the reasoning for this?  Is it just being tested out with plans to roll out to the other platforms soon or was there a different rationale behind it?

Thanks!

Patrick

This would be a huge help to have 58mm paper on the Square register. We use a Square stand at the drive-thru and the register for our lobby, but would love to have the labels work for both systems, at the same size. We're hoping for an update really soon - it would be extremely helpful for so many small businesses that are looking to cut costs and boost efficiency. Square is so fantastic and by adding this feature it would increase my loyalty for the brand.

Bumping this feature request. Still need it, a year later after requesting it. Update promised in October 2022, it's now March 2023.

Come on square. Easy fix that will make your customers happy. 58mm sticky paper all day!! @Thejuicepub

@BernadetteA Any update on this? We are ready to make the jump on the sticky label printer. But we visited another coffee shop in a neighboring city who uses it with the 80 mm and did not like the appeal of that. I at first thought it was a reflection of the shop, since when I was doing my research about getting one for us it says 58mm is supported and that shop just made a poor choice about doing 80mm. But now finding this post I am on pause because I am seeing it is a Square issue. The fact that we who have an incredible square register, are not able to use a simple feature that someone running square from their phone (which did not cost them a penny to download an app like it cost us to buy a register with the bells and whistles) is a poor reflection of square looking out for it's customers.

I know that there is obviously way more that goes into making decisions but being able to have a feature on the square register that is running on pos apps seems like a no brainer.

I look forward to hearing about an update on this as I was sitting down to buy a printer today before I came across this.

Thank You So Much!

Also bumping this. We are planning on implementing this in our boba shop, and after reading all the complaints about sticker size too big and unable to change on the register, and are putting this on hold. After reading about the 654iisk supporting multiple size paper, has anyone tried  to use 2.25” sticky paper printed from the Square Register? Obviously it would get cut off a little on either the left or right side, but would it still work and the stickers legible? Would it damage the printer if paper guard? I’m thinking if I just rename the items and I can still tell what it is by the first half of the name, the cut off should be ok?

Yes!! The more support we can get for this, the faster (hopefully) they'll bump the feature up on their priority list and roll it out. Thanks @tyler @Lovewell @JuicePub @jasonhuangml @the_soda_shack!

Totally agreed, it’s too weird when we wrap the cup by sticky label, I wondering why it’s take too long time to fixed!?

It seems

These seems like such a simple fix, and Square is slow to change anything. This is why some people locally laugh when I tell them we use square, square makes products that you have to make yourself and your business work around, and it sucks
