Separate tipping on services only when a retail item is included in a transaction.

I have found several threads about this. Several from 2016! (This one for example.) How has this not been developed 7 years later? It's so simple. It's the same programming as the tax calculation when items are set as tax exempt. Just duplicate that code for a tip exempt setting and when the tip screen comes up, it will calculate the percentages based on items at checkout that are "tip-able".

While I support your efforts.. I believe appointments should offer a by service tipping option. I do new client consultations and charge for this but it is essentially meeting with POTENTIAL new clients to see if we are a good fit. I have to turn tipping off globally because 'asking for a tip" when they are scheduling and paying for a consultation is highly unprofessional. 

This is a feature that has been asked about for years, and I'm commenting simply to raise my hand as well. We are a retail store that also offers some services. We need to be able to prompt for a tip on services only, as I cannot imagine asking people to tip on retail items. The programming for this is so simple and people have been asking for nearly a decade, I don't understand why Square continues to ignore this request. Having to toggle tipping on/off per transaction is such a pain.

Yes raising my hand as well. This would benefit businesses and operations. Currently we check out two separate tickets for these situations, and have definitely had a good amount of customers ask to refund tip if they realize that the retail products were calculated in.
