What unexpected skill or talent have you uncovered while running your business?

Hey everyone!

Running a business often uncovers some hidden facets of our abilities. For example, when I used to run my website design business, it really brought out my knack for project management.

I'd love to hear from you, what is the most unexpected skill or talent you've discovered in yourself while running your business?

Excited to hear more!

Lol - @Doran and @maxpete I'd second construction, plumbing, wiring, and a super hidden talent - I actually DO understand and enjoy math despite it being my least favorite subject in early education (in college somehow I exempted out of core math and got to enjoy statistics and logic instead) and all of those are actually useful now. Formulating glazes even brings out that old chemistry knowledge, but I'd say the most surprising thing is complex wiring and electrical skills which I use to maintain our kilns and wheels at the studio.

This is impressive! Also, I am terrible at math and just envious of people who are good at it!

This is a fun question!
Owning a business almost unexpectedly made sense of all the talents weโ€™ve had for years. We always had different tools in our tool belts. We put on events, did social media, photography, managing other peoples businessesโ€ฆ felt good at a lot of stuff but didnโ€™t have our hearts set on ONE career. Well owning a business was like surprise! Youโ€™ll be using all of this and need to basically be good at everything.

Who knew that I would be totally comfortable putting myself up on social media - just talking to people and putting myself out there like that

I am exceptionally good at requesting help, giving directions on a task, and ensuring it gets done with additional feedback if needed. I have done a lot of work on the management level to help with my own insecurities to ensure I am communicating my expectations thoughtfully and clearly. I also understand no one means to do things wrong on purpose so I take radical responsibility when others make mistakes. It has been ground breaking!
