The Gifting Golden Quarter is about to start - what are your strategies?

With Christmas, Valentine’s Day, St Patricks Day, Mother’s Day (UK) coming up and Eid al-Fitr likely to fall on the same day , how do you prepare your business to make the most of these key retail moments? Do you adjust your stock, refresh your window displays, or create special promotions? For example, with Mother’s Day falling on the 4th Sunday of Lent in the UK (usually in March & Easter shortly after) and the 2nd Sunday of May in the USA, how do you tailor your strategy for each occassion? Share your tips on how you get ready to make these holidays a success!"

My Top Tip:

I use Square Online for Pre Order and use categories in Shop all for the online side and move the category up about 4 weeks prior.

I plan collections and use categories on my Square website. I also send out specialized emails to tease and show the collections. Social media comes before both.

Wow- been in retail for 6 years and it's the first time I've heard "gifting golden quarter"! I LOVE it.

We always make sure our window displays are updated for the season... of course it's our least favorite activity- but we've gotten pretty good at it over the years and try to create "bones" that can be repurposed...so maybe instead of having to change up the entire window display we just have to swap lights or some of the inventory we're showcasing out.

Re: merchandise- we do offer some seasonal items and try to bring in new items that meet the holiday. We do offer a Valentine's gift box (think crystals in a traditional chocolate box), more jewelry around Mother's Day, etc.

For our Online Shop we make sure we're swapping out our featured items with the correct seasonal ones.
