Is there a way to create Appointment categories?

Is there a way to create Appointment categories?

Is there an option to create categories in Appointments? I have a rather long list of services and don't like that my clients have to scroll through everything to get to what they want. If not, is it a feature coming soon?

Thanks!

Re: Is there a way to create Appointment categories?

So, there is a way to do this, but it requires embedding the list on your own website.

In appointments, under online booking, website embed:

"View Advanced Options" button

"Create New Widget for [your company name]"

Give this widget a name - location, day of the week, etc. Whatever will help you know what is in the list.

You can select what staff are able to be booked - so you could limit it per location

You can select which services are to be included

Save

Now you will see the widget in the "Saved Custom Widget" list.

Click view the online booking page will open displaying only the staff and services you selected.

You can copy the link URL and either send it to clients, make a link on your business website, or embed the entire widget into your site. You can even embed several widget on the same page of your website to split up categories, dates/days, location, staff, etc, keeping all services on one page, just organized by categories. Or you can devote seperate pages to specific items/staff/etc. I created a google sites (in google drive) website to try this out. works beautifully with a google site. I haven't tried it with any other site yet.  It molds right into your webpage and keeps viewers on your site and not moving to the appointments page and missing all the other content on your website.

I hope this helps those that are really struggling with the need to have this all categorized and organized better. If you have any questions about what I've done here, please ask.

Re: Appointment Categories?

I see how that would be super useful, especially when you have a wide range of services offered under one roof. We don't have that option right now but we'll announce any updates as soon as they're available.

As much as I love Square and all the services you offer I would lov and appreciate you more if we in the beauty industry can be able to create our booking services under different categories to simplify our clients selection of services during the booking process.

Example: Spa services: Waxing etc..

Hair styling: blowout etc...

Makeup services:

It doesnt look like there is currently a way, but I am going to ask.

When creating services for appointments, is there a way to set a single service to have variable price/lengths (very similar to how items have variants). We do massage appointments and instead of creating:

1. Massage 30 min - $10

2. Massage 60 min - $20

3. Massage 90 min - $30

(which creates 3 separate "Book Now" buttons)

We would like for the user to see a single selection with options:

1. Massage

   - 30 min $10

   - 60 min $20

   - 90 min $30

If this is not currently a feature that is implemented or even planned, I would like to request it to be.

Thank you!

Hello @DelaliSalon

I went ahead and merged your thread with the existing feature request thread for this. That way we can track the feedback for this in one place. 😀

USER STORY

As a Square admin, I want to be able to group Services into Categories, so that my customers can more easily find Services when booking online, and so my employees can more easily find relevant Services while scheduling appointments.

DETAILS

Having Service Categories (similar to Items) would be tremendously helpful. Today it is too difficult to scroll through many services when booking, and difficult for our customers to find the service they're looking for when booking online.

Thank you for your consideration!

Specifically, being able to create and manage such categories in the iOS Appointments app would be helpful.

Admin

Thank you for sharing your story @BenitaBianca! We'll share any updates this request over in this existing feature request thread. I really appreciate your patience, and your employees' patience too!

Good afternoon,

We too would greatly appreciate this feature enhancement. We connected with Square a couple of years ago (2) requesting the addition of SERVICE CATEGORIES just like 'Item Categories'.

We were informed this would be a beneficial enhancement for service provider-based businesses. At the same time, we requested enhancements for calculating commissions in Square Payroll and received the same encouraging response.

As stated, two years have passed and no categories have been added to the services/appointments module of Square and they have simply added an "Other" field/column in payroll to manually add employee commissions. This is not a solution as the employer still must manually calculate all commissions and manually add them to the payroll screen/field.

With an emphasis on service-based business solutions, Square (and their clients) would greatly benefit from both service categories (for enhanced reporting purposes AND a user-friendly client experience) AND enhanced payroll features.

Thank you for your post.

YES! I need this too!

SQUARE PLEASE ADD THIS FEATURE!
