Feature request for Invoices: Inventory is updated when an invoice is created (not when it is paid)

Feature request for Invoices: Inventory is updated when an invoice is created (not when it is paid)

This reply was created from merging an existing thread: Square invoices now syncs with Square Inventory

Thanks for adding this feature, but I agree with TomLittle above.  The feature is not usable until there is a way to reduce the inventory on CREATION of the invoice.

The whole point of having inventory tracking is to know how much you have left to sell.  You can't have an accurate idea if inventory that is actually "sold" is still included in the "available" category.

Please complete this functionality ASAP.

It's a money grab it's never going to happen it hasn't happened in all these years and years and years. we know it works in other systems.  Square wants the invoice to be paid, so they get their cut, which is fine but give us the ability to take it out of inventory.  You're biting off your nose to spite your face.

So you mean to tell me that Square did all this work on INVOICES and didn't work on the Invoicing and Inventory issue with people SCREAMING FOR YEARS to have inventory reduced after invoice is created.  You have got to be kidding me.  I've been patient, but have had enough.  GET SOMEONE THAT CAN MAKE THIS HAPPEN!!!!  THIS IS ABSOLUTELY UNACCEPTABLE AT THIS POINT.  PRETTY MUCH STUPIDITY.  Adding all the fluff that we don't need is crazy.  WE NEED THIS INVOICE ABILITY NOW!!!!!!   Get the word to anyone and everyone.  Post their emails so we can bombard them directly.  I feel our voices are NOT BEING HEARD!!!  We want answers.

Re: Stock Counts Not Changing Upon Invoicing

Items added to invoices won't decrement inventory until the invoice is paid, not when it's created. From Dashboard, make to enable Inventory Management for Invoices within Items > Settings so stock amounts reflect accurately with each Invoice sale.

No movement on this after many years... anyone find a work-around using a third-party invoicing or inventory plug-in?

When is this feaure going to be available? We will change for another inventory and POS if not available soon by square...

@Sean  @Helen  @puka  …any updates on this simple feature update?  Can you offer an explanation why it can’t/won’t/hasn’t be done? Can you tell me ANY situation where waiting for an invoice to be paid the decrement the inventory would be useful to a retailer? Please? Pretty please?!? 😂

@Sean @Helen @puka … no comment?

Hey there, @Paulyester -

Thank you for checking in about the change to how inventory is taken out when using invoicing. Right now, there isn't a plan for this particular feature.

Since you're looking for more details on this feature request and if/when it would be implemented, I want to suggest jumping into this Q&A Session with one our Inventory Product Team members.

This session is today, Wednesday, May 11, at 1 p.m. PDT / 4 p.m. EDT.

Are you f*&king serious? We've all been waiting here for HALF A DECADE. We've been given quarter after quarter of projected dates. I convinced my organization to stay with Square and keep dealing with this just a little while longer even though it causes us so many problems that we have trouble retaining staff. I am literally shaking with anger right now.

And let me guess... it's all because an invoice might get paid with a check and you don't get any money for that, so Square's thinking is "screw any organization that does even a dollar of business that doesn't have a cut for us." We would be willing to pay for it as an add-on feature!

You know what, though? Thanks for finally being honest. I'm not going to your freaking session. You've wasted years of my time already. But you better believe that our aging equipment will be replaced with something other than Square.

was hoping for an explanation as to WHY the inventory system is set up this way (who would ever need it to work like this) and why it’s so difficult to make it optional for retailers to choose “decrement at payment” or “decrement at creation”?
