Thanks for adding this feature, but I agree with TomLittle above.  The feature is not usable until there is a way to reduce the inventory on CREATION of the invoice.

 

The whole point of having inventory tracking is to know how much you have left to sell.  You can't have an accurate idea if inventory that is actually "sold" is still included in the "available" category.

 

Please complete this functionality ASAP.

It's a money grab it's never going to happen it hasn't happened in all these years and years and years. we know it works in other systems.  Square wants the invoice to be paid, so they get their cut, which is fine but give us the ability to take it out of inventory.  You're biting off your nose to spite your face.

So you mean to tell me that Square did all this work on INVOICES and didn't work on the Invoicing and Inventory issue with people SCREAMING FOR YEARS to have inventory reduced after invoice is created.  You have got to be kidding me.  I've been patient, but have had enough.  GET SOMEONE THAT CAN MAKE THIS HAPPEN!!!!  THIS IS ABSOLUTELY UNACCEPTABLE AT THIS POINT.  PRETTY MUCH STUPIDITY.  Adding all the fluff that we don't need is crazy.  WE NEED THIS INVOICE ABILITY NOW!!!!!!   Get the word to anyone and everyone.  Post their emails so we can bombard them directly.  I feel our voices are NOT BEING HEARD!!!  We want answers.

Items added to invoices won't decrement inventory until the invoice is paid, not when it's created. From Dashboard, make to enable Inventory Management for Invoices within Items > Settings so stock amounts reflect accurately with each Invoice sale.

Removing Items/Inventory When The Invoice Is Created (not just paid):  I am not able to launch my online store because I don't feel like I will have an accurate count of my inventory if I there isn't an option on invoices to remove an item or items when the invoice is created not just paid.  I sell on Facebook Live create an invoice based on those orders and set the inventory aside until the invoice is paid.  If it's a customer that has history with us we may ship items before the invoice is paid.  Please give us the option to remove items from inventory when the invoice is "created".  If there is already a way to do that please let me know.  Thank you.

Thank you for letting us know how this would help you manage your orders @ElevatedMe! I've added your post to our feature request thread for this topic so we can keep you (all) informed of any changes. 

I just assumed given an invoice is a sale, inventory would be adjusted automatically. But it wasn't - as a result I've now exported and sent out stock levels to a large client only to now have to tell them half of what they ordered is not in the warehouse. For a small business this is incredibly embarrassing. I love Square. I manage thousands of products with it. But unfortunately I'll be looking elsewhere as this feature looks like it will never be added.

Weighing in as well: Square should allow inventory to be deducted when an invoice is created. Not creating a pathway for this causes major headaches for inventory management. As others have said, when you create an invoice you are removing that inventory from availability! Square, please fix this issue!!!!

I think it's a great suggestion and the Product team will be able to track how many sellers are looking for this here. 

Are there any updates?  I REALLY REALLY NEED this!  When I create an invoice the item is spoken for and should be deducted from inventory!  Come on Square this is a MUST!

@cpatracey We don't have any updates yet but I understand how important it is for many businesses. We'll change the status of this feature request as soon as we have developments to share. I really appreciate your pateince (and everyone else's patience) in the meantime! 

I need my inventory to reflect correctly when I create an invoice, NOT when it's paid for.  Please tell me this is close to resolution as I will have to use another platform if not.

@Helen Please implement this feature! I don't understand how Square invoices could possibly be useful to anyone without inventory being deducted at the time the invoice is created. The inventory leaves when the customer is invoiced! Without this feature, inventory tracking is BASICALLY USELESS. I've been trying to do workarounds like creating a "Paid on Account" payment type and marking the invoices as paid when they are created. But the lack of this feature basically forces me to choose whether I want invoicing or inventory tracking and I need both. I was the driver of switching our store from QuickPOS to Square and now I am taking so much crap from people for the decision that I am about to just tell them to switch back to QuickPOS.
