Can I link my Appointments calendar to iCal or book on specific days?

Hi, I'm new to appointments and was wondering if it can also link with ICal?  I prefer that over google calendar.  Also, is there a way to set up scheduling for specific dates only?

@KBarnes66 - Welcome to the Seller Community, and to Square Appointments. We're excited to have you on board! 

 

To get going, would you mind sharing what email client you use with your iCal? Are you using an iCloud email account? We currently only have a direct link with Gmail calendars. Having said that, Apple's iCal app supports gmail accounts. If you sync a gmail account through the Square Dashboard and through iCal - it would work! 

 

For your second question, Square Appointments is designed with the intention of having a general calendar be avilable. Having said that, you could use the override hours feature to open available outside your schedule for indivdual staff members. If you check out Tom's Product Update thread, you'll find more details about how to set this up.

Hey there! Appointments Google Calendar Sync does enable you to import your Google Calendar events in such a way that they block off the time in your Appointments calendar.

 

What this means is that if you have an event from 12-1 on your imported Google Calendar, and that event is set to "Show me as Busy", your customers will not be able to book an appointment from 12-1 using your online booking site. There is currently no way to disable booking over blocked off time from the merchant-facing Calendar page.

Any updates on syncing with apple calendar.  I use it through google but really want my apple account to be my main calendar since Ive invested in all their products because square really only updated and supported apple products first

I'm going to go ahead and merge your post with an existing thread of Sellers also looking to sync their iOS Calendar to Square Appointments. I would take a look at EJ's answer for clarity on this, as well as other posts in the thread concerning work-arounds to your issue!

Has the iCal sync option been remedied yet? If this is not solved, we may have to move to a different service.

Hi, @Utah801 thanks for asking. At this time, you still cannot link your appointments calendar with iCal, but it does sync with Google Calendar and iOS Calendars:

 

If Square appointments do not show up in iOS calendars it may be because the calendar hasn’t been selected yet. Try the following:

  1. Open the iOS Calendar app.
  2. Tap Calendars and ensure the Square Appointments calendar is listed under your email address and has a red checkmark next to it.

Note: You must be signed into the same Google Account on your iOS device as the one listed in your Calendar & Booking settings.

Thank you for the reply. This solution does not work because our Square calendar operates under 3 different email addresses for 3 employees that work in a single location. My email is an alias under a main email so even though I have that main email connected to my calendar, it does not sync the Square calendar due to it being an alias. If my calendar did sync, I would still have the problem of not seeing the other 2 employee's calendars. Our appointments are being double booked due to this problem, which has been a huge problem for our business.

Thanks for letting me know about that @Utah801. I know that is super frustrating to deal with, but you should be able to book multiple schedules on the Google Calendar, so it sounds like you need to work with our Appointments Team directly so they can look at your account specifics and see what is going on.
