Can I link my Appointments calendar to iCal or book on specific days?

Hi, I'm new to appointments and was wondering if it can also link with ICal?  I prefer that over google calendar.  Also, is there a way to set up scheduling for specific dates only?

Re: Appointments

@KBarnes66 - Welcome to the Seller Community, and to Square Appointments. We're excited to have you on board!

To get going, would you mind sharing what email client you use with your iCal? Are you using an iCloud email account? We currently only have a direct link with Gmail calendars. Having said that, Apple's iCal app supports gmail accounts. If you sync a gmail account through the Square Dashboard and through iCal - it would work!

For your second question, Square Appointments is designed with the intention of having a general calendar be avilable. Having said that, you could use the override hours feature to open available outside your schedule for indivdual staff members. If you check out Tom's Product Update thread, you'll find more details about how to set this up.

PS) If my answer solved your problem, would you mind marking it as "Best Answer"? That'll help the rest of the community find what they're looking for. If not, just write back, and I'll continue to help. Thanks!

Re: Sync external calendars with Appointments calendar on Square

Hey there! Appointments Google Calendar Sync does enable you to import your Google Calendar events in such a way that they block off the time in your Appointments calendar.

What this means is that if you have an event from 12-1 on your imported Google Calendar, and that event is set to "Show me as Busy", your customers will not be able to book an appointment from 12-1 using your online booking site. There is currently no way to disable booking over blocked off time from the merchant-facing Calendar page.

So it has been 2 1/2 years and you still can't sync iphones with the App? My entire business uses Apple products and you still haven't figured out how to sync more calendars? This is crazy...

Any updates on syncing up with Apple?  Silly that so many of us use iphones and ipads to run our businesses, yet we are unable to sync the appointment calendar up to them.  I've been waiting for Square to make this happen for a few years now.  Please make it happen soon.  It would simplify things so much if we didn't have to manually enter in appointments onto our Apple devices.  Thank you!

I have followed the suggestions to add my iCal from Cozi to Google.  Unfortunately, because it is read only in google, it was added under “Other Calendars” instead of “My Calendars”.  I can’t seem to find a way synch “Other Calendars” to Square Appointments.  Any help would be greatly appreciated.

On a side note I do find it frustrating that everything has to be synced through google as iCal is the internet standard for online calendars.  Wouldn’t it make more since to allow iCals instead?

@ryan_arant

Thanks so much for your post and welcome to the Community.

At this time, we're only able to pull events from Calendars that you own within Google and not other shared Calendars that you may be syncing with. We'd suggest seeing if there is another way to sync your iCal to Google to be able to integrate your calendar.

We're happy to pass this feedback to the Appointments team. I can definitely see how syncing a shared Calendar would be more beneficial for you.

I was looking into using your appointment scheduling software.  I need it to integrate with Apple's iCal.  I was extremely disappointed to find that after over 2 years of people posting about this issue, the only option you offer is Google.  I prefer to use Google as little as possible.

I fail to understand how you would want to  force people to either use google when they would prefer not to or eliminate them from using your service.  I am hoping you will tell me this has changed recently.  Please don't point me to the thread with the google work around.  Like I said, I prefer to only use google when I have no other choice.  I do have a choice here.  My question is will you be able to help me or will I be forced to choose another company?

@RebelSteph111 I checked to see if there has been any development on this but I'm sorry to say I wasn't able to come up with a time frame. I'm very sorry for the disappointment.

I did move your post to the feature request thread so that if this becomes available, you'll be notified.

Please let us know when this option is available. I won't even try to use this feature until that is an option.  - Syncing with apple products

Hi @rhondamiga -

We do have a workaround for this until the feature is implemented. You can link your iCal to your Google Calendar, then it will link to the Square Appointments app.

I understand it's not exactly what you're needing, but keep an eye out for future Product Updates. That's how we will notify you that the iCal feature active.

Hi @Kassi_! Thanks for chiming in on this. I'm having a similar issue myself, where my business calendar is solely on iCal. I've been experimented with a Google calendar workaround but it's getting messy! 😁

Can you explain it step by step, pls?

Much thanks!

Hi @kenanthony

This is the best way I was able to find how to link the 2 accounts together.

Below is the easiest and most stable way to sync your Google Calendars and iCal:

  1. Open settings on your iPad or iPhone.
  2. Click on the Mail, Contacts, Calendars button on the left hand side.
  3. You will see an accounts section that has iCloud, Exchange etc. ...
  4. Select the Gmail option.
  5. Enter in your details.
