Has there been an update to the Square retail app or gonna be in the future to add a store credit to a customers profile on it? It would so be helpful.
Trying to give a customer a complementary $25 for hardships. I have the Advanced Accounting so I can use gift cards. I would like to use a 100% discount promo code to pay for this gift card but the only option is Paypal or Stripe. How can I give a customer store credit??
Hi, what i did was issue my customer an egift card. All i needed was their email and i purchased the egift card using the bank card from the same business checking square deposits go into. The purchase shows up instantly as a credit on my Point of Sale and you are assessed the standard card not present fee. Within a day or two that he gift card purchase goes back into my business checking accnt as cash (after the fee of course). This was a much cheaper route for us than purchasing the actual gift cards and loading it with a balance.
Other than getting double dipped for fees by Square, this is a very good option. Thank you for that insight. I may have to go down this route in the future. Thankfully, I have not had to do this much at all.
I just tried to use the "Other Tender" option to load a Gift Card (for an Exchange), it didn't load the card but a transaction was created in the system.
Can anyone help with what I might have done wrong loading the card?
That sounds very odd. I still recommend checking that report if you haven't already. If it's still giving you trouble our Support Team can take a look at it from the back end!

This doesn't actually solve the title of this thread entirely. This is so far, just a work around if you consider a voucher to be a gift card. This is great, and I'm excited it's this far. That being said, I really don't want to have to buy a gift card every time someone needs store credit. I give music lessons and perform services. Most people pay by invoice and not in person on a card or anything of that sort.
So, is there a work in progress that would end up with being able to refund store credit directly to a customer's account for use on invoices?
Hey @ThisGuysMusic - Currently, we don't have any news on a feature for store credit. In the meantime, our Customer Engagement features might work out for you where you can ask customers for feedback, send coupons through email, and keep them updated about anything new with your business.
