How to change personal name not business name?

How to change personal name not business name?

I need help with this too, but the only option I can find under "Personal Information" is to change my business name. I have a typo and would like to correct It without having to start over with my online shop, etc.

Re: How to change personal name not business name?

@CKinkade Sorry for the late reply here,

Unfortunately you aren’t able to edit the legal name you used to activate your Square account. If you'd like to fix a typo with your activation name, you'll need to create a new Square account.

Fortunately the activation name is not public facing in any way.

@Symfolia They have proven time after time that they don't care about this, and they literally made it even worse by deadnaming you even more each time the app updates! Even worse that we can't even use their checking account feature because the debit card it comes with has your deadname on it! The more services you use, the more it deadnames you! Don't even get me started with what happens with customers when you use Square appointments!!!!

@Goldneye Yeah they just come back to you saying its not possible! Lmao! This is supposed to be a modern company with modern ethics.

Maybe you could try the new Transfer Account Ownership feature. I haven't tried it yet, but would be interested if someone had.

Adding to the list of existing customers with way too much data to just cancel and start a new account.  Legal name changes should be honored on this legal platform.  In fact, the tax documents even have the incorrect name. How will the IRS agree to using the documents.  Square, really?  Please fix this, you make so much money on us and are being very inconsiderate.

Wow. It amazed me to see this Name change issue was not addressed at all since this thread began back in 2017...Crazy how Square put "Contact Team" for support and there were not any at all.

Why is it hard to add a feature to change the owner's name? I've bought the business from a friend and it is still under her name...

The person at our organization who originally opened our Square account has left. I started to use the transfer account ownership option, but then noticed all of the users complaining about being unable to change the name of the account owner without opening a new account or transferring ownership. But this situation is absolutely ridiculous when a business owns the Square account. The actual owner of our Square account is the Central Arkansas Library System. But Square requires a named individual to be the acccount owner. They have created this problem because they require one employee of an organization to be the "owner" when for most organizations the organization is the owner, any named individual is just an employee. Why on earth can't a business be the owner of a Square account? We use Square a lot, but learning this makes me reluctant to continue, and I will definitely never recommend Square as a solution to any business or organization unless they are so small they have onlyn one employee, the owner. I'm baffled by all of this.

I have made a decision. This company hasn't kept up with the times and is unwilling to make the changes needed for this name, not a business, change. Everyone who isn't a heterosexual cisgender male will experience something like this. That is a pretty large percentage of the population and the businesses in this country. For me, it tells me enough about the company. Their lack of inaction tells me all I need to know. I am canceling Square ASAP. I encountered the same situation with PayPal and it took me 24 hours to get my name changed. Enough said. I hope you all reconsider and give yourselves your place. Companies should make options like these available to us and should cater to us, the people who keep them profitable and with profits, not the other way around. Good luck.

Go to staff, then click on your name, then go to visibility and display. Under display name, you can change your name without having to deactive your account.
