Feature Request: Sync inventory across multiple locations

Feature Request: Sync inventory across multiple locations

The title of this post has been edited from the original: Multi-Location Inventory - All locations use same inventory

Is there a way to have multiple locations use the same inventory? We sell orders from several locations and need to track by location, but the inventory comes from the same stock. Aside from assigning a certain amount of inventory to each location, and likely having to shuffle the inventory around within square, and possibly thinking we are out and ordering more when there's plenty in the inventory of another location... Can certain items be assigned from a central inventory stock and other items be location specific?

I'm not seeing this is possible now, but is it something being considered?

I'm using Square POS, not retail. I believe retail has a more robust inventory system, but retail is just far more in general than we need.

Hi @coasie_creation🌟

Thanks for posting in the Seller Community.

Please take a look at this Support Center article on managing inventory with multiple locations. Just to be clear here - if ou have more than one location, you can match your item library to begin with - however, when you sell and item it will pull inventory from one location, not both. You cannot have two locations with one inventory. Sorry about that!

Let me know if you have any additional questions.

We are really needing this option as well. We will be losing out on sales by splitting our inventory between two locations when one sells out and the other still has stock that could be sold. I pack orders for multiple locations drawing from the same inventroy pool.

I also desperately need this. It is causing endless confusion when people try to pre-order for pick up at the farmers market instead of on farm. Adding locations just makes inventory a nightmare. I sell meat, by weight, which is already a complete nightmare. Without this feature I have to keep multiple inventories which is a real time suck and an increased chance of error!

This reply was created from merging an existing thread: One inventory, two locations

I have two locations almost set up and one inventory they will share. I would like for both locations to update when an item is sold (using Square) either place. I have tried testing what I think would work, but I am still able to sell multiples of an item with only one in stock. Is this possible? Thanks!

Welcome back to the Seller Community, @Jnbj 👋

It is not currently possible to share one pool of inventory across multiple locations.

We're tracking interest in this capability here, where @mattd provided some suggestions in the meantime.

Hi,

Is there any way if Inventory possible to combine so I can enter the numbers once. Instead having 2 seperate locations stock?

Hi again @quynhanh19393👋

I moved your question over to this thread where we are tracking interest in this feature. It's not currently possible to pool inventory for multiple separate locations into one inventory that both locations are able to pull from. We'll be sure to update this thread if we hear of any changes to the way inventory interacts with multi-location accounts. Since I moved your question here, you'll receive a notification when a new post is added here!

Adding my voice to the pool! My business would also greatly benefit from being able to sync inventory across locations! We want to make it easy and straightforward for our customers to place an order to pickup at a particular farmer's market, but managing inventory for every single market would add hours of work to our schedules each week! We simply don't have time to maintain it. For the time being we will be using the notes in checkout for customers to indicate their market pickup, but that relies on the customer remembering to write in the notes!

Hoping for a fix for this soon!

Another strong yes to have multiple locations pull from a central inventory. We are also a farm that sells at our physical location and at a farmers market. I thought setting a mobile location would help, but it doesn't seem to change anything.

Adding my voice to yet another business that needs the ability to sync inventory across locations. I have a brick and mortar store, but also sell at shows and festivals across the county. I need to be able to set variable tax rates when on the road, while maintaining my local one in my shop.
