Feature Request: Sync inventory across multiple locations

Feature Request: Sync inventory across multiple locations

The title of this post has been edited from the original: Multi-Location Inventory - All locations use same inventory

Is there a way to have multiple locations use the same inventory? We sell orders from several locations and need to track by location, but the inventory comes from the same stock. Aside from assigning a certain amount of inventory to each location, and likely having to shuffle the inventory around within square, and possibly thinking we are out and ordering more when there's plenty in the inventory of another location... Can certain items be assigned from a central inventory stock and other items be location specific?

I'm not seeing this is possible now, but is it something being considered?

I'm using Square POS, not retail. I believe retail has a more robust inventory system, but retail is just far more in general than we need.

@Valentina Thanks! Any idea on when an update like this may happen?

I don't have a timeline, @Nlb723 - but we will be sure to update this thread when we have news to share!

Has there been any update?

We could use this feature. We have two locations (next door to each other) and we share the same inventory. It be great to link them together so when we sell items that are both available at both locations, they would be pulling from the same inventory.

I'm really struggling with this as well! This is a design flaw in my opinion. It should be simple to add all stock as a whole and have inventory come out of the stock to track no matter which location is purchasing. I have a zero waste store in town that allows for curbside pickup, local delivery, AND delivery for pick up at another location. In order to have that location enabled for pickup there, I now have to go back and add fictional stock to each and every item and variation (over 400!!) and hope that one location doesn't sell more than what I have in stock.

Please fix this ASAP. Thank you!

I feel your pain! I am in the same boat. I asked at the very beginning when I was switching over and starting a new site with square if this was possible and I was told yes.

I'm launching at 8am and it's currently 1:30am here and after making my site live, IT DOESN'T WORK. Super frustrated and disappointed in this site!

This is a feature request we desperately need ASAP.  I am currently considering switching to a different POS for this reason alone.  Square has been great at adding features, but this is a huge one for many of us trying to survive right now.  As well as the fact that when I was initially researching the best platform last year, I was under the impression that inventory management did sync between square and weebly across locations.  Only discovered it didn't when I received an order I couldn't fulfill.

We are a restaurant with patio dining, to go orders, contactless ordering & we do pop ups at farmer's markets, as well as sell retail items in a shop in person & online.  I originally created a separate location for my retail items so our online ordering menu wasn't overwhelming to customers, and also to create a good shopping experience for those only interested in our retail items.  I also have a location set up strictly for contactless ordering with QR codes since our dine in menu is different from our carry out menu.  So I have 3 locations set up, with hopes of adding a fourth for catering when we can safely offer that again.

We sell our retail items in person and online and we had some issues over the holidays that led to some disappointment to our customers, something we can't afford especially now.

As a small business owner who manages all of our menus & online ordering I cannot see paying for a platform and having to manually adjust my inventory myself, or worse paying someone to do that- my time and money would be better served finding a different platform.

Hoping something is coming very soon!

I believe I have come up with a temporary workaround. Rather than adding multiple "store" locations for various pickup options for customers, you can instead add a shipping location for each additional pickup spot.

For instance, I have my main store and then two other potential pickup locations within businesses in adjacent towns, let's call them Café A and Restaurant B. I can go under shipping and add a shipping fulfillment option from my store to Café A by using Café A's address. Once I have enabled each item for "shipping", when the customer goes to checkout they can select if they'd like to have it shipped to Café A or Restaurant B.

While it may not be ideal, and would require some education and guidance for the customers to know how the "shipping" works, it does enable a business to have multiple "locations" for pickup/delivery while stock comes from one location.

I hope that helps!

I have the same issue. We are a farm, with a farm stand location. We also have pick up locations where we will take farm boxes and other orders, but everything is from the same inventory.

I believe this could be solved with either: Shared Inventory

Or... Adding a feature so that you only have 1 location but you can have scheduled pick up locations.

We are only at certain locations on some days. So it would be nice to be able to schedule those times and allow people to order and select a pick up date & location.
