Feature Request: Sync inventory across multiple locations

Feature Request: Sync inventory across multiple locations

The title of this post has been edited from the original: Multi-Location Inventory - All locations use same inventory

Is there a way to have multiple locations use the same inventory? We sell orders from several locations and need to track by location, but the inventory comes from the same stock. Aside from assigning a certain amount of inventory to each location, and likely having to shuffle the inventory around within square, and possibly thinking we are out and ordering more when there's plenty in the inventory of another location... Can certain items be assigned from a central inventory stock and other items be location specific?

I'm not seeing this is possible now, but is it something being considered?

I'm using Square POS, not retail. I believe retail has a more robust inventory system, but retail is just far more in general than we need.

I was able to sync location menu, there is a button at the bottom of

Business, locations “edit locations” to copy from another location.

@PasteriaLucches,

Glad to hear you got it all figured out. Let us know if anything else comes up.

I was able to sync up the menus, but I’m still having a problem with my Ballard farmers market location saying that at all items are “sold out”.  My two locations share inventory, and there is plenty for both

Ah gotcha! This sounds like it might require a bit more in-depth troubleshooting by accessing your account.

Through this public platform, we are unable to look into any account specifics. We recommend reaching out to our Support Team. Feel free to reach them via email here, or by giving them a call at 1 (855) 700-6000 (Monday-Friday, 6am-6pm PST) - but you'll also need your customer code.  The steps to look up your code are listed in these steps

Let us know if you have any other general questions.

Our kitchen closes for breakfast at a different time than the entire store. is there a way to limit pickup times per category?

Hi @jsestby,

The current version of Square for Restaurants does not allow you to auto 86 or not sell items online based on time according to the FAQs. It does inform your staff in restaurant that there is no stock available, however. I do understand the desire to stop selling at a given point in time, which is quite common.

That being said, I'd suggest using the SDK to set up time functions like this. Likely in the Inventory Developer API. I will note that I have not done this myself and would be curious to know your results. This is likely on the backlog for Square, as it is a common use case.

The manual option would be to disable a subset of items in the Square Dashboard daily, but a script would make the job far less time consuming and efficient.

Hello @jsestby,

Thanks for posting in the Seller Community.

Just like @mattd mentioned, currently the ability to limit categories by pick-up times is a feature request. We definitely see how it could benefit your business model. Our product teams are constantly looking through our seller's feedback to make necessary improvements, and we will be sure to let you know if anything ever changes or if new updates are released.

Please let me know if you have any other questions by replying to this thread.

Any update on this?

I have  6 locations I travel to delivering products on different days and need all locations to take from the same inventory

This is becoming Vital

Covid has made this URGENT

Thanks

Hey @Maddogwlv thanks for asking and welcome to the seller community! At this time, there is still not a way to have a general item pool and sell from different locations. You can have some workarounds if you subscribe to Square for Retail, where you can view your item stock for all locations and transfer the items between locations within the app or on the Square Dashboard.

If you have multiple locations enabled with your Square for Retail account, you’ll be able to view the current stock levels for all locations — directly from the app. To view inventory levels for a specific item:

  1. In the Retail app, look for an item using the search bar, drill down by category, or select from your Favorites List.
  2. Once you find the item you’re looking for, you’ll see the Other Locations row in the item details page. If you have available stock at any of your other locations, you’ll see a highlighted number.
  3. Tap the number to review the location details.

If you have several locations, filter by distance, stock, and location name.

Within the Retail app, if you need to transfer stock from one location to another, you can transfer stock to move individual items, or move your inventory in bulk — quickly and easily. Keep in mind, you’ll need to create multiple locations in order to transfer stock.

To get started:

  1. Visit Items in your online Square Dashboard.
  2. Click Actions or select the three dots on the item line > Transfer Stock. From here you can begin your transfer.
  3. Next, select both the source and destination locations.
  4. Choose the items to transfer and enter the transfer quantity. Take note of the current source location stock levels to ensure you have enough stock to support the transfer.
  5. Click Complete Transfer.

Once you complete the transfer, you can view the transfer details at any time — including location details, product details, date and time. Each transfer is assigned a unique transfer number for your records.

To filter your history to only view item transfers, click All Adjustment Types > and deselect all filters except Transferred.

Chiming in here - we really need this feature.   We are a farm - we normally do farmers markets, but because of the current situation, we are having people order online - then, on Saturday, we load up their orders and take it to the pre-determined location where they can pick up.  So we have 5 different locations where we go each week.

Order from our online store - you can pick up at the farm, or, if you prefer, select Location A for Saturday morning pickup, Location B for Saturday afternoon pickup, Location C for Wednesday evening pickup, etc...      They must all share the same inventory - no way on earth can we manage the exact same barn full of goods across all the locations.

For now, we'll just add items in our store at 0$ for people to 'purchase' and those items will be their location.  It's crucial that we do inventory tracking - we don't have infinite amount of product.  This is a pretty clunky solution but hopefully it works.
