Feature Request: Bundle items as a single item, pull from inventory individually - combo/combination

The title of this post has been edited from the original: Inventory: Can you bundle items together as a single item or special?

We have multiple products for the same price.   We offer a 3 for $20 special, which is a mix & match of any three products.   How do I handle the inventory count?   Do I need to add each item with the discounted amount, so at check out I would have to select three discounted items?   Or do I add each item at the regular amount and apply an overall discount?

Hey @FurnishbyIsa and welcome to the Community!

This isn't something we offer at this time.

This would be a feature request we can pass up but I haven't seen any other requests for this yet. Hopefully other sellers who are looking for this can add onto the thread!

Re: Can square reduce inventory of two different items sold as one?

Hi there!

Unfortunately for bundle created items that combine two separate items together will not reduce your inventory for each.

What you can do is create a discount and apply it to the sale when both items are purchased together.

This will reduce your inventory and also reduce the price to the amount that you like.

Re: How to track inventory with a mix & match 3 for $20 special?

Hey @Baconation, thanks for surfacing!

I can see how this would be a bit tricky for your 3-for-$20 special, especially since inventory is a high priority.

Depending on how you need to track your items, I have three suggestions:

  1. Add each item individually to the sale, then apply an overall discount.
Pro: Allows you to track the inventory for each item regardless of being part of the special.
Con: You would have to ring up the 3-for-$20 special as a separate transaction. Otherwise, the discount will apply to the entire sale.

  2. Add each item individually to the sale, then apply the discount to each of the three items.
Pro: Allows you to track inventory for each item regardless of being part of the special and ring up additional items in a single transaction.
Con: More of a manual process that may increase the length of time to complete a sale.

  3. Create a "3-for-$20 Special" item.
Pro: It's fast and since the price would be locked, you can add it to a sale with other items.
Con: You wouldn't be able to track each individual item within included with the "3-for-$20 Special" item.

I understand how automating this would be super helpful for your business and I'll be sure to share your experience with our product liaison team.

Hope this helps clear things up for now. Please let me know if you have any further questions!

I appreciate the referral, but Square should offer this kind of inventory management capabilities natively without additional charge. If Trunk can do it, it means Square can. They've commented in these threads for YEARS that it's in the pipeline, yet there's no movement. It's unacceptable.

I have to concur with this.  I do a mix-n-match 3 for $20 option as well.  Currently I am doing on square:  add each item and apply a specific discount.  This is time consuming, and doesn't match up at all with my website (wordpress/woocommerce), which does this beautifully.  Not only that, the discount doesn't work multiple times, and you have to have a #1, #2, #3 for multiple packages purchases.  Needs serious improvement!

Another request for a way to group items and track inventory!I would love to do more grouped items but tracking inventory of these individual items is such a pain that I don't. Instead I add each item and then add a discount. While this works, it doesn't allow me to keep track of how many of the groups I sell; just in individual items. I have a feeling if I had more grouped sets, I could make more sales, so I'd love it if this were an added feature of inventory tracking! (Bonus for Square; the more people spend the more likely they are to use a credit card and for me to pay a fee!

We are also looking for a way to achieve this functionality as well.

I came across this thread when building out my menu. Can this product (square) really not offer a basic combo order system? In my case I'm needing a  multi-day juice cleanse package made up of different flavors (combo of items). Is there a real ETA on this feature or should I look elsewhere for a POS that is less of a pos?

Hi there, @FalfafelHut 👋 Thanks for reaching out and joining us here on the Seller Community! Welcome! And thanks for adding your voice here in support of this feature.

Were any of the workarounds listed here helpful in resolving this for you?

Just going to add my vote to the list, bundling features is a must. I sell multiple items together in gift sets- I can't split the inventory between 4 different gift sets, plus have the item as a stand alone... and trying to manually adjust every time I get an online order is just not an option. Please make this easier!!

I would love to have this feature. It could helps me with the inventory tracking when making holiday bundle, package. For now i need to do the description of the bundle, all the articles that it contains, set up the normal price, then the sale price.

The price could adjust itself considering the individual article price. And then we decide a % or cash discount.

And when i sell one, i need to check the description and remove the item one by one of the inventory. It's a pain.

I got some done like this and i discouraged myself doing it because of that.

Need that both in store and online.

Please.

This would be so helpful. Is there an ETA on when this feature will be available?

@METRADINGCOLTD's comment is more in line with what this thread was originally covering. It strayed off into item variations at some point; different topic altogether. This is another example of a pretty straightforward POS need that isn't currently available in Square: the ability to take individual inventory items and make up an assembly that is priced differently than the combined prices of each item. Individual item inventory count remains accurate as assemblies are sold. Individual items can still be sold separately.

Would be nice to get notifications on release dates of feature roadmap items like these.
