Hi,

 

We quickly built a Square/Weebly Online Store this week so that people could place contactless/curbside orders for our gelato shop. It's working great and I love that the tickets print out when it's time to make the order.

 

We are also implementing a local delivery service where people can preorder with us and we'll deliver it on Friday night. Right now we're doing it by email to take their item order and we respond back with a Square Invoice to capture payment. Has anyone successfully found a way to do local delivery with the Online Store platform?

 

It would be awesome if besides Pickup or Shipping, merchants could toggle on a Local Delivery button and the merchant could set a few options, such as "Delivery on Friday night, 4-7pm," "Delivery on Saturday afternoon, 12-6pm." Maybe with an option to assign a fee, but that's less important during this emergency response.

We are currently testing Batch Processing in our Beta Community, which may help you out. This is another update to allowing pre-orders on your online store.  We'd love for you to join in the test and provide feedback.

Once accepted there are instructions in the group of how to get started in the test.

Thank you! I tried this and it works just as you've described. We will use it for our upcoming fundraiser.

 

We had a slightly different quirk, in that we use categories to allow parents to choose a specific size. For whatever reason, the Small size shows up in the backend, but not on the published site. I ended up creating a duplicate of that size option (Leaving two Small categories in the backend) and it shows up once on the published site now. 

Thank you so much! I was getting frustrated as we are doing a holiday pick up and I could not find a fix!!! We just lauched our school store as well, would love any other tips or ideas! -michelle

I create a modifier that contains the date of the pickup of items, and mark that it is Pre-Selected.

 

When setting up the item on the website, I make it a Service rather than a Physical product (even though it is a product).  This overrides the pickup/delivery option, and instead shows the modifier pickup information.

 

The only quirk is that after you change from physical to service on the website side, you have to go back in and reenter the price (even though it shows) on the dashboard side in order to make the item visible on the website.

 

We have used this method for our holiday fundraiser, and I'm in the process of doing it for our annual book sale.  The process is a little clunky, but it works without a lot of explanation to the purchaser. 

 

 


Just wanted to say "Thank You" for sharing this.  It's a fantastic workaround for the issues I'm facing with holiday orders.  I truly appreciate it.  Hopefully it'll help the many others facing the same issue.

Has this issue been solved? For years we've been dealing with this issue on thanksgiving orders. We need to have a setting for pickup on just one DATE (day before thanksgiving) not day of the week. So confused that we haven't seen this feature added. 

I'm having a similar issue where some items are listed as Available Later and others can be pre-ordered. I haven't figured out what I did differently with these items. Yes, I'm frustrated! We're adding evening to-go options for weekdays, so some items will not be available all day, but I want people to be able to pre-order dinner to pick up on the way home. I had added categories that limited their timing to the evening hours, but it seems random that some items in those categories can be pre-ordered and others not. Any advice welcome.

I would like to have the ability to offer pre-orders on products, in order to identify consumer interest in a product as well as to eliminate the risk of buying products that will not sell.

It would tremendously help so many small business that use Weebly!!

This is a really good idea to have inside Square. Until then, our Square-powered Apps can do this easily - with so much more!

Sounding off that we really need this feature too! And a way to quickly view completed orders, AND a way to have different tax rates for different items, AND a way to not let the POS over sell items that we have in inventory. I've been begging for these things for months.

 

Thank you so much for this! More of a pain than it should be, but with the holidays just around the corner, this is a great workaround for now until Square gets it sorted out!
