Feature Request: Kiosk / Hide Options

Feature Request: Kiosk / Hide Options

Since we cannot seem to get the actual functionality for a self service kiosk, can we at least get an update to the app, so that we do not see the menu items for things an employee does not have access too? (e.g. if the employee does not have access to reports... why does the menu item display? Seems it would make sense to remove instead of clicking on it and see the permissions error.

No news on a self checkout feature request yet, but our integrated Partners might work for you. I merged you to a thread with more info in the best answer.

@Ssundita

I have been using Kiosk buddy self-service ipads for 8 months now. I highly recommend it.

I used a Vida box iPad stand that I mounted tot the counter.

I'd like to set up an ipad with my online store locked to the screen where customers can place their orders like a self service kiosk.

I think the only thing I would need is to be able to use the chip reader with the online store. This would make it much more convenient and fast for the customers

Hi @DeliVolv It wouldn't be possible to use a chip reader with your website. Each customer would need to add their items to the cart, then checkout by entering their card and billing info. The site would also stay on the order confirmation screen after a successful checkout, so it may be confusing for some to navigate back to the home page to place a new order.

Have you heard about the Self-self Ordering feature? It will allow you to create a QR code that you can print out and place at the front counter, or tables. Customers would be able to scan the code, and order directly on the website from their phone.

Hi.

So the end goal in mind, is to have a self-service Kiosk with a large screen (around 20") if possible for food service.  My thoughts so far, is to use Orderup (salesvu), for their Kiosk service, attached to some device with Square integration. Problem is, I'd need a separate card reader and chip reader, which as far as I know doesn't integrate with Square.

I could go with another service other than square, but I'd prefer not to. Any ideas?

Hi @Donith !

Since Square doesn't have a kiosk mode built in, you're definitely going to have to look to an integration partner to make things run smoothly.

Have  you checked the App Marketplace on your Web Dashboard? There are a couple of companines that have kiosk services that directly link to your Square account. Not sure if any of them can handle a 20" screen--I looked at KioskBuddy and it looks like it's iPad based--but there are a few ideas available.

As an aside, there is a gas station called Maverik here. Their self-serve systems look to me like a locked down version of their usual point of sale, and it's a visual train wreck. If that mess can be used, perhaps with the correct permissions the POS could run a self-serve mode.....? 🤔

Hope this helps!

I know square doesnt have there own self service kiosk solution. Wondering what the best self service kiosk is that integrates with Square? What do you guys like?

Thanks

Has anyone found a solution for implementing self check out and self payment solution for cashierless stores?

Feel free to check out Partnerships page to do some digging. And While we still haven't built/developed a self-service kiosk, I wanted to let everyone know about our Self-serve Ordering and QR Codes with Square Online.
