Feature Request: Kiosk / Hide Options

Since we cannot seem to get the actual functionality for a self service kiosk, can we at least get an update to the app, so that we do not see the menu items for things an employee does not have access too? (e.g. if the employee does not have access to reports... why does the menu item display? Seems it would make sense to remove instead of clicking on it and see the permissions error.

Not only do we already have this (we're an official Square Partner company), but right now we're almost 90% done with integrating it with Voice, so your Customers don't even have to actually touch the Kiosk : )

Here's a Video: https://youtu.be/iFeuGHZ6a0M

Here's more info: https://getpreorder.com/voice

And if you'd like to test a demo of the Kiosk, get in touch with us or DM us here.

Thanks!

My problem with the square online store is too much fraud.  We had to shut down our store and stop selling online gift cards due to too Manu fraudulent disputes. Has this been resolved yet?

@isabelle  Hello!

Can this self-serve ordering work for me? Here's my situation:

I own a retail and custom apparel print company. I'm 1 of 3 businesses that share a downstairs commercial space. Although my print shop has an enclosed space, customers from the neighboring business can see my merchandise through my glass doors and windows. We all share a main entrance. My neighboring friend and business owner will be happy to allow me to place a kiosk or tablet at my shop entrance for self-serve ordering of apparel when I am not around. Can this easily be accomplished? I do have a square online store. Could I get a little guidance please?

Thanks so so so much!

Hi, @Inspiration-Ink - stepping in for @isabelle here. Will one of the other business handle giving the items ordered by a customer to them? In other words, a customer uses the tablet to order some items they see in your shop window, then one of the other business owners will get it ready for them and set it out somewhere for them to pickup?

That should be do-able with self-serve; the main difference is you'll only be setting up a single station for customers (as opposed to a restaurant which would have multiple stations for all of the tables, booths, etc, that they have). Follow the steps of the article on setting up self-serve ordering, then print out the single QR code and add some instructions telling customers to scan it.

How much volume to you anticipate? The only real issue with this is that another customer can't place an order this way until the first customer has received their items and closed their order out (since the station is technically in use until then). You could create a second or third station and print out additional QR codes if you think that'll be an issue, though.

Check out an app I built using Square API  - perfect for self-service. Go to knowtifyd.com to learn more.

Here's how it works:

1. Create an account and set up your business, locations, etc.

2. Connect your Square account. (I will eventually get to syncing up what you have in Square to auto-populate all your existing business info)

3. Print out a QR code pointing to the online menu URL that my app hosts for you.

4. Customers go to that site, order online, and you will get an SMS or Phone call when a new order is placed.

5. After you accept the order, you just click a button when the food is ready and your customer will come pick up their food.

Thank you so much.  I'm thinking that it might not work because I'm hoping to allow customers to order and pick up their orders within a week or 2, OR pay for shipping at checkout and we will ship them. We print to order in many cases.  Sometimes we need to order inventory, so it's not possible to fulfill all orders on the spot, some yes,  some no.

Do you think it would work to have a tablet with my square store site loaded and allow customers to browse,  shop and pay that way?

@isabelle we are using a self service kiosk (physical kiosk) in tandem with our square POS to fill the curbside/touchless customers. (It was a company that we has once considered before going with square restaurant). And now we've brought them in so we are essentially running 2 POS systems to capture all our customer bases. I'd love to see the API completed where square is fully integrated. The kiosk technology exists and is phenomenal. Square doesn't need to re-invent the wheel! How would I work with support on linking the two? Thank you!

Hey @TakingCareOfBiz, thanks for the tag!

What kiosk machine are you using? I'll look into integrations.

I foresee Square keeping their hardware (terminal, register, iPad), but perhaps creating an official kiosk mode. I don't know this for sure or have a roadmap, but I could see that being developed in the future.

The company is called Curb 'n Go. Their CEO would be happy to walk you through their program. They're heavily involved solutions for food service and so they'd make an excellent base for square's many food service POS users. Can I message you offline with his contact information?

Thanks!
