You may be looking specifically for our newly introduced Deposit Feature for Invoices. This will also allow you to create a single invoice to track multiple payments and reduce the amount of time you have to spend reconciling multiple payments (deposit, follow-up payments) to a single transaction or sale.
Of course there's an ETA for this feature, it's just not public information. I'm sure the development department has a manager or director that's responsible for this and they report up to someone. If they don't have an internal completion date then they're not running the project very well.
@MPodkin Have you considered that they might not. You and I have the luxury (in our businesses) to know how long something is going to take because we have history with the product we are selling. What we are asking Square to do is something entirely new to them. So let's say they put an ETA out for something like this, but they are way off the mark. Would you be happier if they put an ETA out at our request and then have to rescind it, or be up front with you and tell you that they can't put an ETA on something like this? As much as I would like to have this available, I am more than happy to wait and use my workaround while they are working through it all.
That's why I said "internal completion date"... I've been an engineering project manager on projects ranging from $10's of thousands to $10's of millions. The guy in charge (CEO) always wants two things, a budget and a completion date. CC processing has become a very competitive market and response to customer's needs can quickly make or break a company.
I agree with all of the comments except for the replies from square. Because of the inability to use this feature, I haven't used my square in over a year, and had to switch to Paypal, which does offer this feature. I would think that in creatiing this program the genius' thaty did it would have had the forthought to include this in the progream. The other thing that is offered on paypal that is not on square is shipping functions. As an online seller, who deals mostly with facebook customers this feature is a priority. I do not understand the inability of Square to offer these options for customers who obviously want to use Square but cant because of the lack of these features.
I'm beginning to think it is absolutely ridiculous that square has been responding to this request the same way for at least 2 years now. There are other companies who are offering this simple request. I don't understand why square isn't.
Are there any updates on when Square users will be able to accept partial payments on invoices? As an investor in Square and as a user, I am unsure why this desired featured has been ignored for the last couple of years. Can a more detailed explanation be given as it seems that a lack of this feature is forcing some users to go else where, which is concerning to me. Any update is greatly appreciated. Thx

Not being able to apply a partial payment has become such a headache that I am looking into other payment processing systems. I receive checks all the time for the wrong amount and I can't apply them to an invoice without splitting it. That is time consuming first of all and it messes up my item counts as to what has been sold. You can't sell 1/2 a t-shirt and leave 1/2 in inventory! I can deal with not having a statement of what is owed by a given customer, but not being able to account for the payment portion that has come in is killing me.
