You may be looking specifically for our newly introduced Deposit Feature for Invoices. This will also allow you to create a single invoice to track multiple payments and reduce the amount of time you have to spend reconciling multiple payments (deposit, follow-up payments) to a single transaction or sale.
I own a business where we accept partial payments on large invoices. I have the POS and understand how to "split and tender" payments but is there a way to enter a smaller amount and still keep record of what is owed on invoices. I was previously using QuickBooks but I want to switch our whole system over to square if it will allow partial payments. Thanks in advance!
Nevermind. I re-read your reply and you are suggesting two invoices: one for the deposit and one for the balance. Correct me if I'm wrong.

Hello! I'm not understanding your work-around.
I created an invoice for the full amount + a discount so that all is left is the deposit amount. Then, once paid, I cannot edit that invoice to resend.
I SERIOUSLY suggest you search "take partial payment" and get a cup of coffee or three and sit back and read ALL the threads.. In a nutshell, the answer from @Sean as he's posted several times is "Sorry, not at this time but the DevTeam is aware of it and working on it" .... Btw, some threads are over 100 replies long hence the many pots of coffee to read them all... Sorry to disappoint

Is there any chance Squre is working on a partial payment or deposit option? PayPal offers it through a subtraction symbol. Just add a subtraction symbol that we can add a negative charge with.

Our team has been working on this feature for you, but it’s a major overhaul of how Invoices is currently architected in our backend systems. We need to build a new solution that is scalable, secure, and accurately reports all of the transactions within an invoice. Our teams are working as fast as they can in order to get the core components ready, but it will still take some time. Please know that this high priority feature request has not fallen off our roadmap, and as soon as it’s available for beta, I’ll reach out to those of you on the thread for an early preview.
