Feature Request: eGift Card Validation

So a big problem everyone is experiencing these days is Credit Card Fraud. Especially with online EGift Cards where there is NO chip to be read, the purchaser of the EGift card that is using the SquareUp interface only enters the standard Credit Card info and the billing zip code for validation.  The recepient of the EGift card that comes to your store is a completely different person and cannot validate the purchaser in anyway usually, or it becomes very invonvenient.

Right now, to mininmize this, we are taking the ID of the EGift card recepient at the store but in the end, if there is a dispute, the banks usually only care about the Card Holder Transaction ( purchaser of EGift Card ) which did not even involve the EGift Card recepient.

It would be great if SquareUp took more details of the EGift Card Purchaser, for validation pusposes, such as the full Billing Address and even went through a cell phone validation via text exersize to confirm them.  Hopefully one of their reps is reading this post to push something like this feature to avoid these costly fraud situations.

Any suggestions appreciated.

Hello @SKodounis

I went ahead and moved your thread to the Feature Request Board of the Seller Community. I think the suggestion of additional security would be great for eGift card purchases. From here we will track feedback from other Square sellers requesting this. 🙂
