Custom sized items

Hi all - is it possible to sell a custom sized item?  I am trying to figure out how to arrange this so that inventory will be updated. 

Example:  I will buy a yard of fabric.  I may sell the yard, I may sell it in 2 half yard pieces, or I may sell a custom piece 10"x10".  Is there a way to keep track of this?  I can list as per square inches, but how can I have a customer enter the dimensions online, and bill it appropriately?  They can enter 100", but that could be 10x10, or 20x5, or 2x50....  I will need to know that info and have it calculate the sale appropriately.....  And frankly I don't know if they would do the math on it to figure the sq inches to enter for odd sized pieces....

Thank you for coming back to the Community with your questions. 

Adding a custom size to your item, for your customers to enter, would actually be a Feature Request. 

In the meantime, I will tag this for our Product Team - so they can see the request. I appreciate you taking the time to bring up some feedback in the Community.
