Accounting cashflow
I'm new to square (had been using paypal pro for years). I'm using square to process credit card payments and refunds from my non-square online store. It works great but getting accounting information from square is difficult. I'm a retired software engineer with strong background in accounting, databases, php, .net, and delphi.
I want to use php and the square api to get a cashflow report for a date range that I can use to reconcile with the sales from my online store and bank. In other words, I was a list of all debit and credit transactions that affect my square balance. That would include credit card sales, fees, refunds, transfers, and expenditures on the square debit card.
Can someone point me in the right direction of which api calls are useful for this?

Hey there, @dmsacctg -
Thank you for posting in the Community!
This is a great question. Currently, Quickbooks is able to integrate with Square and show something similar to what you're looking for.
I can tag your post as a Feature Request for our Product Team, if you're thinking of something different.
I appreciate your feedback.

I don't use Quickbooks. Surely, buying qb is not required to be able to reconcile the cash in and out of my Square account. I thought Paypal's qif export was poor but apparently this is impossible with Square?
So, I assume there must be a way to get this information from API calls. Can anyone point me toward applicable API calls? I've been searching through the API help and see nothing relating to this except for some old deprecated functions.

You don't need to purchase Quickbooks, but I know some other sellers have utilized it to complete what you're looking for.
There are reports you can export to accomplish this too. If you look in the Sales Reports from your Dashboard and the Balance Reports - both will provide the cash in and out on your account.
Please let me know if you have any other questions.
