Hey @BoundlessBags,
Thanks for getting in touch!
SEO makes it easier for potential customers to find your website, so you'll want to include keywords that improve search engine results. While we're not SEO specialists, and can't give you detailed advice on what to include, here's a few resources you can take a look at to get started:
Getting started with SEO settings for Square Online
Hopefully some other Sellers in the Community can chime in with some SEO tips that have worked for them with you here, too.
Hi,
Many thanks for those links. I'm making my way through those and am about to put a couple of photos in the next comment below.

Hi,
I appreciate your response and the screen shots. I will add a few screenshots below. I believe I have got the first part of SEO Optimisation correct but under each individual item for sale you will see they are blank. Does this mean I have to go through every item I have for sale and add some more detail. If so, what is best to put in under
- Permalink
- SEO Title
- SEO Description
I appreciate everyones help with this to try and get better traction.
Kind regards,
Angela

From what I understand, you really want to do due diligence and fill all the available fields out. Case in point:
It's a lot of work that can be tempting to skip but I find it pays off in the long run especially if you want to close those sales. Our early SEO groundwork + the way we set up a Google My Business profile started to pay off probably three to six months after we opened our physical location. ๐
You can do it!!!

Hi again and thank you for your input!
I have today added some more detail in the SEO Optimisation and I will attach a screenshot.
Do you think this is more acceptable?

Hi, @BoundlessBags!
Just wanted to chime in with how our SEO settings look like on our website! We've selected a tight group of items that we sell online for customers to pick up on their way into work, etc. that sync beautifully with our Square KDS and Square Register. (For context, we're a takeaway coffee shop in Perth, Western Australia.)
@Arie's links are pretty solid and if you haven't already checked them, I highly recommend you do.
With the number of products you're selling, I assume you're more of a retailer? I remember binge-watching Moz YouTube tutorials just to wrap my head around SEO and dabbling in the Google Analytics dashboard.
I can't claim to understand the nuances fully--perhaps it may be worth outsourcing? and also remembering SEO management is a long-term game--but I think it's great you're getting stuck in!

Hi again,
I have also added some more detail to the first of my website items that is currently for sale. Is this looking OK as well. I was quite unsure how much detail to put under the 3 bullet points of:-
- Permalink (I'm basically describing exactly what the item is)
- SEO Title (I have taken this from item title on my website)
- SEO Description (I have taken this from item description on my website)
I appreciate everyones help with this to try and get better traction.
Kind regards,
Angela

Hi @ajdresshire ๐
Welcome to the Seller Community, and thanks for writing in with this question about SEO. I've gone ahead and merged your question with this thread, where some other sellers have shared how they configured their SEO. There are also links to guides to help you get started. Please let us know how you go!
Thankyou - I am just really hoping to have my website appear through google? Not sure how to go about this or if it's a seperate thing entirely.
Yes, that's what Search Engine Optimisation, aka SEO, does @ajdresshire. Via the steps the sellers share in this thread, you'll be able to get your site more easily discovered on Google.
here from Sydney Australia.
I am not familiar with SEO , I tend to follow instructions when there is anything to do with SEO If I understand correct there is a new version of SEO starting in July, what would i need to do before then ?

I know it's a bit daunting, @ajdresshire, but I just came across @MJD's great rundown on how to get that particular ball rolling. It may take a little while to see results but, if set up correctly, will see you gain an edge over your competitors.
Having a consistent presence on social media has never been a massive priority for me -- and run a cafe! -- but I'll always make time to audit/do little boosts for our SEO/website/Google Business profile because the financial benefits are so much more tangible.
Of course, your mileage may vary. ๐
