Why are my coupons not applying?

So I have been with Square for over three years and I have recently ran into the issue of MANY birthday coupon codes not working. It continues to say "Item not in the system" I have an Herbalife shake and tea shop so I offer a free birthday cake shake on their birthday. How do I fix this!???
