Why am I not given the option to swipe?

The title of this thread has been edited from the original: Why am I not given the option to swipe?  I have to manually enter the cc info

 Can someone help me? Please tell me what I'm doing wrong. When using my chip reader, I'm not given the option to swipe. I have to manually enter the cc info. I have gone so far as to remove the app and reinstall. Same result .still manually enter. I know there's a fee for both. I'd rather pay the lesser of the two. TIA

I know it’s confusing, but as long as your reader is connected, there actually won’t be an option that appears or that you have to click on, since you can actually just go ahead and swipe/dip/tap!
