When will it be possible to have two separate items pull from the same inventory item?

If we sell bolts in packs or by the piece we are not able to pull from the same inventory. It would be nice to have that option soon.

We ended up moving to Shopventory where you set-up the pack that is the base item. Then you create the items as they are sold - so one item is a pack and one item is a piece. Each of those new items, are then converted to bundles - with that first base case pack as their inventory parent.

So you have in inventory - 3 packs of 24 and one open pack that has 14 pieces in it. Your base pack inventory would read as 3.583 (14 pieces out of a 24 pack = 0.583). Your unit for the full pack sale would be 1.0 and the pieces would be 1/24 of a pack or 0.041 (SI only goes to a third decimal) - and this sale would be bundled to the same base 24 pack. So a sale of a full pack and 3 pieces would reduce the overall inventory by 1.125 - 1 full pack and 3 pieces of a 24 pack - and your inventory would then show, 2.458 - or 2 packs and 11 pieces. It's a bit of a numbers crunching thing but I created an excel spread sheet that I use all the time to know - when I'm adding a new item to the system, what the unit amount per item out of a pack should be.

Hope that helps!

We use Square for Retail so I’m not sure it would work the same as Shopventory. I see what you’re doing but it would be a little different on our end with different discounts built in when the quantity increases. Thanks for your input though.

Then you would just use the automatic discount function to trigger the various discounts you want for the quantities of product that you'd sell. It doesn't affect your inventory set-up at all.
