What do I need to be able to use an ipad with either of the Square Stands?

I am a mobile food concession vendor. At almost all events there is no wifi available so I always have to use my iphone cell data which I do not mind doing since I never go over. However I was wanting to get an ipad and use with either of the Stands. I do not know which kind of ipad will work. I was under the impression I would need one with cellular data capabilities. But I have friends that do not have that with their stands and ipads. So I am very confused. If you do not have an ipad with cellular data how do you get it to transmit the transactions? Do you still need your cell phone to hook up to the ipad to create a way to get to the cell signal?

Depending on which Square Stand you purchase it should list the types of Ipads that will fit the Stand you are buying.  The other option is to take the guess work out and add a New Ipad to the purchase of your Square Stand.

I am not sure if the WiFi only Ipad is added on or one that can connect to a cellular tower.  I bought the 1st Gen Square Stand (not the one in Black)  and bought a Ipad off of Amazon that fit the Square Stand.  The New Black Square Stand accepts 10.2 and 10.5 Ipads.  So when I go to events where there is no WiFI I use my Cell phone as a Hotspot and have the Square Stand Ipad connect to my Cell phone.  If the Ipad you have or get can connect to a cell tower you would not need the Mobile Hotspot.  I prefer the Ipad with just WiFi since most of the time for me I connect to my stores internet and not cellular towers.  The other advantage I can see is that, if you currently have 3G or 4G service and will be getting 5G.... and in 2 yrs 6 or 7G maybe, you would not need a new Ipad and stand just upgrade your cell phone.  I point this out since my last cell phone was only 4G and new one is 5G, and I did not have to change out an Ipad to connect at faster speeds.
