Use Square Online as only website or add Square features to our GoDaddy website?

We are starting a veteran support club and can only afford the free Square options (with transaction fees for payments). But I am confused about how best to set it up. We will be running a monthly free breakfast meeting for veterans at a variety of venues. We will offer something like a bacon bap and coffee or just a hot drink (or even free attendance and no food / drink). The ideal would be to use Square for people to book for the meetings (even if they want to come free with no food or drink) and pay for whichever option they choose. Should we use the free bookings app for this or just set each meeting up as an item on the main site? Our existing GoDaddy website is a simple one (see www.chi-harbour-vets.club) so should I add bookings buttons on there to take users to Square or could the Square website totally replace the GoDaddy one?? I find the multiple options of items, variables, etc very confusing and would be grateful for some overall advice before I start using the setup guides for each part.

Hi @NR_CHV thanks for your post ๐Ÿ™‚

I'd be happy to help here. I'd just like to confirm that I've understood exactly what you are looking for here.

Would you be looking to use Square to keep track of which venues veterans plan to attend (and limit booking availability depending on sales) or is the idea more just a method of offering people different payment options depending on their location and food/beverage preference?

If you do want to manage actual bookings - we may need to take a look at a Square Appointments booking site (which can be embedded into your GoDaddy site).

But if you are just looking for a way to sell entries into different venues, it sounds like Square Online Checkout Links would be the perfect fit here.

You can create different links or buttons or even QR codes that you can embed (paste) into your GoDaddy site and it will direct customers to a page where they can purchase their entry.

For example, you can have multiple links or buttons

1) Location A + Food & Beverage

2) Location A - No Food & Beverage

3) Location B + Food or Beverage

4) Location B - No Food or Beverage

This way you wouldn't need to set up another site. Here is a link to a test Checkout link of mine so you can get an idea of how it looks. and I'll attach a photo of how it looks from inside my account.

I hope this all makes sense - please let me know what you think and I can provide more resources for either option should you like to go ahead with one.

Actually, I think I may have found a way to do it . . . I have managed to add our next few events as "Items" with the menu options as "Variations" and some lift options as "Modifiers" within them. But I don't know if it's the best way to do it . What I'm seeking to achieve is that members can choose an event (which all have a price of ยฃ0) , select their menu option (which adds a price)  and choose to select that they need a lift or are willing to offer a lift to the meeting. The idea is that they can then pay online if they select a non-free "Variation" (eg bacon bap) and can book either way. I tried booking myself on an event with only a free option and it sent me an email to say I was booked - great! I haven't yet found how to get a list of everyone who has booked / Paid, with their "variations" and "modifier" options but, if that works, it seems this will do the job. Is there a better way?  If you're prepared to take a look at my effort and comment I'd be most grateful: Home | Chichester Harbour Veterans Club (square.site)

Another issue I have: if I want this to totally replace our GoDaddy website, I would need a "downloads" page with PDF files on it - but I can't find an option for that - can you help??

And another: I have uploaded a member ("customer") list but is it possible to let members login and book as themselves, and does that then mean the website will keep records of "orders / bookings" through the site by each member?

Many thanks for your help,   Neil
