I would like to track profit per item so I can view my most profitable products and adjust my menu accordingly.
Is there a way to do this?

This isn't something that Square does natively, no.
I know Square for Retail has cost analysis reports, and I believe Square for Restaurants has more in-depth reporting, too.
The word menu in your question leads me to believe you're in a restaurant environment... you may also want to check out the Apps section of your dashboard in the Restaurant Management section. There are a few there that integrate with Square and could give you cost anslysis.
For me and my restaurant, I found an app called Fillet that loads onto my tablet. It doesn't interlink with Square, so there are a few extra steps, but the app itself is robust enough to run inventory and look at menu costing. Price: Free. 🙂

The Fillet app is no longer free - it requires at least a $99 / yr subscription now.
