Why can't I schedule a client without a email on my square appointment

@Email You can create an appointment for a client using only their phone number, an email address is not required if you set up the appointment from the Calendar.

However if a client is making an appointment from your online booking site they are required to enter an email address and phone number.

Would some of your clients prefer not to provide both? Any other feedback will be really helpful for the Appointments team!

For myself, many of my clients are a bit up in age and prefer to do as much offline as possible. So, if I'm able to actually get them to book their appointment online, many would like to just leave a phone number as they are either uncomfortable giving too much information online, they don't remember their email address, or they may never check it anyway. Perhaps as a merchant having the ability to choose whether the email address and/or phone is a required field would be great, obviously requiring at least one of the two.

Hello again @AROBINSON

Thanks for sharing some details on how this change could help your business. Right now it's not on our road map, but it could always change in the future.

Yes, please give us the option to turn off the email requirement.  We live in a rural farming community and lot of my customers don't have email.  Makes it impossible for them to book online.

PLEASE TURN OFF EMAIL REQUIREMENTS. US BARBERS DON´T WANT PIKI CLIENTS TO GET LIMITATED BY THAT. OTHER THAN THAT THE BEST APPOINTMENT APP! WEE NEED TO TURN OFF EMAILS, SOME PEOPLE DON´T LIKE TO GIVE OUT THAT. SOME, PHONE IS ENOUGH FOR SMALL BUSINESS, I´M USING ANOTHER APP ON THE MEANTIME.

Hi @ESALLANCORTE - Welcome to The Seller Community, it's always nice to see a new face 😊

I can totally see the need for a feature like this and how beneficial it could be for customers and service providers. At this time Square does not offer a feature that will allow you to disable the collection of emails when booking appointments. I'll be happy to move this over to a feature request board so that our engineers have visibility of your suggestion. We appreciate you sharing your request. While there is no time frame for when it will be implemented, i'm happy to make sure our engineers have eyes on your request.

As always, feel free to stop by The Community with question, concerns and even feature requests. We are more than happy to assist.

I agree the requirement for emails should be optional, how can I be updated if they ever add this feature?

Hello @Kadazzle and Welcome to the Seller Community

At this time an email is required because it's part of Square Appointments' Cancellation Policy and No-Show Protection. Without an email on file, a Seller wouldn't be able to charge their customer for a no-show or the late fee.

I hope this provides some clarity on why an email is required upon booking.
