Shipping to Freight forwarders

My square online store is very low volume, especially to unknown out of state customers. So I found it odd that I would receive two separate $160ish orders for two different products, from two different peoples/addresses/cities located in CA roughly 24 hours apart over this past weekend. So I googled the mailing addresses and both appear to be for two different and unrelated Philippine Freight Forwarders. I have never had an order going to anything like this before. If I take a video of the items being packed and ship with signature required am I protected?

If you are uncomfortable with the purchases made on your Online Store, I would suggest looking a little more into our article on Scams and Fraud.

From this article:

Irregular orders and shipping practices

Many illegitimate purchases involve special requests or irregularities around the delivery of goods. These include:

  • Billing and shipping ZIP codes that don’t match
  • Insistence on rush-shipping/service (can indicate the buyer is in a hurry to complete the transaction before the stolen card information is reported)
  • Large, repeat orders in a short time span
  • Bulk orders of goods that can be easily resold (blank t-shirts, electronics, USB drives etc.)
  • Requests that you wire funds to a shipping company recommended by the buyer

Although it doesn't totally follow the pattern, you already have a gut feeling about it, and typically that's something to look at more than anything else.

If you suspect fraud, let the customer know you can’t accept the sale. Contact us if you have any questions or concerns about a customer.

You are welcome to refund these payments from your Square Dashboard if you believe they may be fraudulent.
