Redoing Website

I have learned so much since I first started my square website and I would like to start fresh and redo the entire site. I want to think differently about it and just start with a blank slate, but at the same time keep my current site up and running during my redesign.  Has anyone else done this or does anyone have any info they can provide on this topic?

Thanks,
Linda

Hey Linda,

I'm not sure if Square offers a type of "staging" scenario, but that would be ideal if they did offer that.

I just checked out your site though, and IMHO, it flows really well with your products. Very clean and not over cluttered.  Just curious if you don't mind sharing what type of changes you want to make?  Or things you wanted to implement?

I get the need for change, i constantly think of different things I want to change or implement , especially when I see other sites similar to mine with sweet features that would work well.

Hi Minion,

Your site it really fabulous! Now I want to redo mine even more after seeing yours. I created my site several years ago and I know there are some new features that did not exist when I originally created it. I have lots of products and descriptions that I want to make more uniform. I want to look at my products that have variations and see how I can make it more fluid from a customer experience perspective. I wonder if there is a  cumulative list somewhere of new features or enhancements square has made in date order with links to further details.

When I first made the site I had absolutely no knowledge of making a website. Thats the beautiful thing about square! My website looks pretty good for someone with no experience in this arena. My regular full time job is in Healthcare and Willow Sky is my creative outlet addition to my regular job.

My busy season is holiday time so now is the best for me to make some changes for the better. My mind never stops flowing with ideas.

Square would you like to pilot a staging scenario with Willow Sky?  I can meet you in the Atlanta office if needed.

I welcome all feedback on this topic as it is wonderful to know if this is something of interest to others.

Hey there @willowsky,

I may have a suggestion for you here!

To answer your first question, you can certainly reset your site design, however, this action will unpublish your site altogether and reset it to its initial state before editing or uploading content. Any items in your online store won't be affected.

If you are wanting to start creating a new site design, while keeping your current Square Online site published for customers, you can make sure of the Site Editor. Any changes you make while redesigning your site with the Site Editor will be saved but won't be published until you physically select the option to Publish your site, at which point, all changes will be reflected on your live site.

We've also included a guide for navigating the Site Editor, which includes specific site design guides for retail and restaurant businesses.

Is this what you're looking for here?

Let me know if you have any further questions and I'll do my best to assist! 🤗

Thank you! So much I will have to look into that. My concern is the need to be able to toggle between the new design and the old one to copy info to different areas in the new design. I loved your response as it is for sure one way to do it and thank you for including the link!
