Recurring Invoice : payment when invoiced or when bill due?
I have been setting up recurring invoices to be invoiced on the 24th of a month and then due 7 days later. Now I'm wondering how this system will behave when "card on file" is applied. Does the card get billed when the invoice is sent (the 24th) or when the bill is due (7 days later)?
Then if I create the series on say the 10th of a month, please confirm that no card is charged instantly, but everything waits until the 24th or when the bill is due the 7 days later. Customers would be pretty mad if just creating the invoice series instantly pulled funds on the 10th just because I started the recurring invoice early. If it does instantly pull the funds that would force me to wait to create the series until the 24th of a month.

it will be charged to the card on file on the date the invoice is programmed to be sent not the date it is created. so the 24th in your case.
that is the way I understand it from this thread https://www.sellercommunity.com/t5/Questions-How-To/Recurring-Invoice-What-date-is-the-customer-s-ca...
@ACAcatering is that correct?

@VanKalkerFarms is correct. It will charge the card on the date that you set. Just don't forget to set the date beforehand. It will say "Schedule" instead of "Charge." I mention this because I sometimes forget to set due dates out on my invoices.

This reply was created from merging an existing thread: On what date is an automatic recurring payment made?
We have a client that wants his automatic recurring payment do happen on a specific day of the month using the card that he will have on file. So when are recurring payments made? On the invoice date? On the due date? TIA!

Hi @ItsOverJonny. Hmm, there isn't a way to set up recurring invoices so that they are charged on a particular day a month: they the card on file is charged according to the series’ schedule.
For example, when you create an invoice, scroll down to Recurring Invoices > click the date beside Start and select the day the series will start. Then you'll chose when the invoice will Repeat, e.g. every 7 days. If you already have the card saved on file it will be charged automatically every 7 days.
