Point of sale app won’t load on my iPad 2, using compatible stand...what to do?

I have an iPad 2 and setting up the compatible square stand for the first time. I downloaded the app but the app won’t load... I only get the square logo... it won’t open... what am I doing wrong?

Have you updated your iPad to the latest version of iOS?

Have you shut down/restarted the iPad?

Have you tried uninstalling and reinstalling the app?
