Off line mode

I seem to understand the magic "login to Square up to 72 hrs in advance of using Square and get to wifi within 72 hrs after receiving payments." 

 

What I want to know is can I TURN MY PHONE OFF after having logged in (for example) 24 hrs in advance of using off line mode? Or does my APP need to stay open from the time I open it to when I start using it in offline mode?

 

I have old phones with minimum battery power longevity and would like to start the day fully charged with all my phones. Everything is set up now on all the phones and the app has been downloaded ,, I am logged in to each app and off-line mode is turned on.

 

So I guess I am asking if I could log in to Square via my app the day before the event. Shut down the phone until the next morning and then start the phone midday without internet. Or do I need to start the app WITH internet for it to work offline ?  Thanks!

I just tested this on my iPhone @CFMSdonate

 

I signed in on the app, enabled offline mode, then enabled airplane mode (to simulate no internet), turned off my phone and turned it on again. After doing this the app loaded in offline mode without any issues. 

 

I believe it is safe to say that depending on your device you should be able to load the Square Point of Sale application without internet as long as you have already logged in and enable offline mode.

@CFMSdonate I would just try it..log in..turn your phone off and log back in tomorrow morning.  Run a 1$ transaction on your card and then reconnect to wifi so the sale can be recorded.

 

The key thing is..if you don't connect to wi-fi within 24 hours of the sale you won't get paid as it will not arrive and be processed as an approved transaction.  Offline transactions do carry the risk of being declined, but it is limited to the transaction amount of course.

You are correct @CFMSdonate it is 72hrs but the quicker the better so I believe @Donnie-M was suggesting to do it sooner rather than later.
