Loyalty Prompt Timing
Has anyone figured out how to get the customer display on the register to prompt the customer to enter their phone for loyalty check-in prior to the start of the transaction. Customer support seems to think that with the register there is no way to make the system prompt prior to payment. Does anyone have a work-around? We'd rather not have to make the employee look up every customer for them to be able to redeem a reward prior to payment.

I had a customer today that knew she had points to get a discount. I searched for her name added her and it popped up a screen that said Jane had enough points for xxx discount. She was paying cash so it would have not popped up at check out. I agree it would be super nice it we had a option to enter their phone number or information at the start of the transaction.

In a recent update to Square Register, as long as the register is not locked, there should be a big Check In for Loyalty on the customer facing display. Before items are added to the cart it should be in the middle of the screen, and then once items are added it would be in the top right corner.
This way customers can enter in their phone number at any time during the transaction and claim their rewards.
Super easy, super awesome!

Unfortunately it only appears at the very end. Even when we set it up to prompt at the beginning under the customer engagement settings it still only comes up after payment. We checked and it says that we’re on the most current version of the software as of today.

I did speak with someone on the loyalty team and they said it was the same way in Restaurant and POS. I asked if downgrading would make a difference and she indicated it wouldn’t. What version are you on if you’re getting that prompt to come up?

Interesting - can you take a couple of photos of the Customer Facing Display at the start of a transaction (after employee pincode is entered, if you have team permissions on), and in the middle of a transaction when items are added to the sale already?
I'm pretty sure that it's been rolled out for a while now that there would be a Rewards Check-In button in the top right corner.

Here are some pictures of the customer display during the checkout process. I'm not impressed at all with the Square Register system. We just did a warranty claim on the one we had because it would just randomly reboot during a customer transaction. We've had the new one for a week and now its doing the same thing. We wanted the customer check in option to come up before they pay so it would prompt for rewards. It leaves a lot to be desired from a customer experience perspective.
