I have many items assigned to one location. Can I change all at once to all locations?

I'm not sure how but most items are assigned to our "Tablet" location, which was our first location.  The balance are included in All Locations which includes two "cell" locations.  I'd like to get all of them assigned to all locations as we pull inventory only temporarily from our central stock and sometimes  have two mobile shows going on at once. I really hate the thought of clicking each item one at a time to change the Location from Tablet to All Locations.  Grr....

Your best bet is to export the item library to Excel, which you can do from the top of your Items page in the dashboard. From there, look for the Enabled [Location x] sections, and update as you need. Once you're done, import the sheet from the same spot in the dashboard.

You may have to log out and log back into your apps to see the changes, but they will be there!

Thanks very much.  Having worked with exporting a library from one system to make changes in Excel, I wisely saved the original file before making changes.  Then saved it to a new file and made the simple changes needed.  Thanks for the tip!!

PROBLEM ENCOUNTERED in upload: I got this following error message:
Import file contains a column header mapping to a modifier named ‘Color - Rolled Classic’, which cannot be found.

The update hangs at this point so I clicked the "X" in the upper left corner to exit the process without a complete upload. The thing is the modifier does exist.  It's assigned to one item. And it appears in the modifier list inside the Square desktop app.I tried changing the "Y" option on the item to "N", saving the Excel file and uploading again.  No change; same error above pops up.

I used the update option to modify in the upload, not replace.  Before I choose to overwrite, do you have any suggestions?

Thanks so much for your expertise!

@AlpacaMan hmmm... that’s odd.

The only thing I can think of is to make sure that modifier is exactly the way it is spelled and spaced on your account. Even capital letters where there aren’t any can cause the upload to fail.

One troubleshooting step: try reuploading the original copy you exported. (Great idea saving off a copy before changing it by the way!) If you are still seeing that upload error, there is something weird going on. First I’d try re-exporting the file and making sure your download didn’t get corrupted. If you still see the problem, I would recommend contacting Customer Support so they can dig into your account further.

The title of this thread has been updated from "square customer support phone"

Our company uses Square currently and just purchased units for a second location. Can anyone assist in how we download all of our items to the new locations POS without having to enter each item manually?

Can you just go in your dashboard to "Add Location", add the new one, then it would populate automtically into that new location?

@ForFiveHamptons and @blackberryhouse - I moved your posts to this thread so you can take a look at ryanwanner's suggestion above. Exporting is your best bet!

No matter which location I select, when I export the library, all items from all locations show up in the Excel file and it is only showing the current quantity for one location (not the one I'm trying to select).

I've moved your post over to this thread where @ryanwanner explained what to look for in the exported file in order to determine which location each item is available at. I hope this helps, @hoodriver!

I sell my items at several locations but, when I try to update the inventory, one of the locations isn't listed for some of the items.  It IS available for most of the items, but not for all of them.  How do I make sure all items are available at all my locations?

Thanks for your question, @RoseLBF.

I'm moving your post over to a thread so you can take a look at some suggestions that @ryanwanner gave in this thread about changing the location of all your items.
