How do I track employee sales?

[The title of this thread has been edited from the original: Can I have a user ID requirement per transaction?]

Hello.

I would like to require a user ID to be entered for each transaction so I can track who took the money for each transaction (multiple cashiers - one station).

It is like a copier code. You go to the copier but before you can make a copy you have to enter a 4 digit ID.

Can I do that with Teams?

Can I do that at all?

Thanks.

Hey @chlp!

Thanks for posting in the Seller Community.

Yes, with Team Management Plus you can track employee sales. They will type in a 4-digit code when taking a sale, so that payment will then be associated with their name. Then you can run reports based on employee, and when you're viewing transactions, you'll be able to see which employee took the sale.

Here is a bit more information on Team Management Plus and how to subscribe. Let me know if you have any other questions.

Is the a way to assign cashiers numbers so at end of day I know who did what when multiple people are making transactions?

@Scottbb To be able to multiple people on 1 account you have 2 options:

1.  You can use team management and assign each employee a passcode and then require a passcode on each device to process a transaction.

2.   You can use device codes and only allow 1 person per device and then you can track sales by device.

If you have a limited number of devices then option 1 is the only way to do it.

Hi Donnie, thanks for reply, but still a little confused! Please tell me exactly what you would do! So if I'm selling stuff at an event, me, my son, my daughter, maybe another person is selling! All are using my square account doing either swipe or tap pay. Each of us has square app downloaded to our phone, but using my account. How would you set this up if you were me? Thanks so much...Scott

Hi @Scottbb - Thanks for reaching out to us here on the Square Seller Community👋

I went ahead and merged your post to an existing thread where other Square Sellers have discussed this topic as well. We merge duplicate conversations together to keep like comments in one place, and to make it easier for others to find the thread in the future.

To track a team member’s hours and sales on a shared point of sale, be sure to assign them a permission set with Shared Point of Sale enabled and their own Personal Passcode. When a team member logs in to the app with their passcode, you can view any payments they’ve processed while on the clock. If you’ve assigned them to a permission set with Access Mobile Point of Sale enabled, they’ll sign in using their own email and password.

Your team member’s sales will be visible from Reports in your online Square Dashboard. If you select Team Sales, you can view and download reports specifically for your team. Click the date filter to customize the date or click Advanced Options to filter by individual team members. You can also view processed refunds, comps/voids and discounts by using the Activity Log.

I hope this information is helpful, but please do let me know if you have any additional questions.
