How do I set up the Symbol LS2208 Barcode Scanner to actually read barcodes?
Hello!
Please help. This is urgent.
I bought the basic Square Point of Sale hardware/kit that has the Square Register, the chip reader, the receipt printer, the barcode scanner...all of that. But what I want to figure out is how do you set up the barcode scanner to scan/read the labels with the UPC codes on them for our items that we are selling? I have the Dymo LableWriter 450 printer all ready to go to print labels. I have printed a few test labels with a barcode on them, and an SKU number, and have tried using the scanner on those, but the scanner doesn't read it! Or it can not for some reason...
We started (my people in my business, and myself) the 30-day free trial of the Square for Retail software, thinking that it would just upgrade our Point of Sale/Register system we already have to the level where we would be able to scan barcodes, and do other more in-depth/detailed things to do with profit margins, cost of goods sold, inventory management, reports, etc., all on the Register and in the Square dashboard. I thought the POS system we have, would evolve into the new Square for Retail system...but apparently the Square Register does not support the Square for Retail app?
Do you need a whole other software system to be able to create, print, and use lables with barcodes and sku's? Do we need the completely separate hardware system that is the Square for Retail?
Much appreciated!
All the best!
B
