There is a button on the backside of the stand that will pop out the end of the iPad enough to grab it and pull it out and away from the lightning port.

Have a question regarding square POS stand. We keep a spare ipad available in case something happens to the one being used or if we want to do an update that takes too long. We just insert another ipad.
My question is that after we pull the pin out bottom left that locks the ipad in, we have a slight problem in removing the ipad. so we hit the back of the stand with palm of hand to jar it loose. I am always afraid we will hit the back too hard and break it from the mount. Odd that apple or square did not put perhaps a hole in the stand whereby you can push it out with your finger ? Anyone else experience this issue ? Can I drill a hole in the stand behind the ipad ? I don't believe the back of the stand has any wires inbedded in the plastic. Would appreciate comments from anyone. Thanks

Hey @denardis - Thanks for posting.
I don't recommend drilling a hole in the back of the Stand, as I don't want to risk you damaging the Stand or getting hurt. Actually, there's an eject button underneath the iPad cradle of the Stand where you an insert your finger to push out the stand.
Remove your iPad and carefully flip your Stand over if it's not mounted so you can see it.
